What are Laptop specifications for a Traktor S4 MK1 and Traktor Pro 4 setup?

Hi Folks,

Recently returning after a longtime (3 kids), to try help my son with ASD use and regulate with my old S4. My original laptop has crashed and is no longer recoverable. I am hoping to download and install Traktor Pro 4 and purchase a laptop (new or refurbished) so he can use. Does anyone have recommendations on the specs required, any watch outs, etc. Any help much appreciated.

Hello,

installation and download should be no problem, you just install native access login and then you can download your software. A laptop should have at least an intel 12th gen i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 5xxx but i would try buy something newer and of course you also have to look at all the specs in detail so take it more as a general starting point. An ssd is of course important better an NVME one, 16 Gigs of RAM running in dual channel mode would be great and is then more than enough. Then do you want a 15 or 17 inch display? A refurbished laptop would be good if the specs are ok. Maybe you have already something in mind and can share the model so we can have a look at all specs.

Important with an S4 Mk1: Don't buy a MacBook! S4 Mk1 requires drivers which aren't available for newer versions of macOS.

just my experience, like most people don´t use the laptop just for DJing so the efficiency of newer CPUs might be useful if you travel and surf online and newer CPUs are (in general) more future proof, and i also said it´s just a starting point or rough guideline of course more specs count like the whole package of the laptop, if you think otherwise i would love to read it. I know it can run on older CPUs but i personally would not buy them. You have for sure more experience so as i said ….
