- Okay so, I have a remix set that is mainly 1-shot samples (quick vocal samples, a siren, an explosion), but a few cells contain samples that have rhythm to it (ie, a vocal chant that has rhythm). I am trying to:
- 1. get the looped/rhythmic samples to sync to the master clock
- 2. but keep the 1-shot samples at their original pitch, unfettered by any changes to the master clock or the remix deck tempo.
- I can get the rhythmic loops to sync properly BUT ONLY if i sync the ENTIRE remix deck. Syncing the entire deck means the 1-shot samples, which are intended to play at normal pitch, could be playing 3, 5, 10% too fast or slow depending on the arbitrary tempo set for the remix deck, and the clock tempo.
I see in the Cell properties (lower pane of the deck), you can elect to "SYNC" a given cell. Well that seems to do absolutely nothing whether on or off. What is the purpose of that toggle when it does nothing, and the only way to get any cell to adjust to master clock is if the entire deck syncs? Befuddling.
- I'm aware that I can use pitch lock for the 1-shot samples, sure, but I loathe using pitch lock, hate the away it sounds. If you know anything about audio, its an enemy to clean sound and clean formants. It surely isn't a real solution.
- Also, maybe related, maybe not, but the various 1-shots play at varying pitches, regardless if the deck is synced. ie, if i play back a bunch of the cells, every few cells will play back at an erratic pitch. To get it to correct the pitch, i have to hit the SYNC button at the bottom of the cell properties, play it again, and it corrects back to normal. This has been happening for me for years, FWIW. Any idea?
