MK2 not recognizing certain button presses

I have an issue with my MK2 not recognizing specific groups of buttons. Specifically, all buttons under the master, groups, transport, and all the shortcut keys under the pads section like scene, pattern, solo etc. Ironically all the pads work fine, and i can use the navigation to load kits and sounds and trigger playback with pads. I haven't spilt any liquid on the device and have kept it in good condition. Maschine 2 is up to date and works fine. I have deleted and reinstalled multiple times. I can go to old saves and change groups in Maschine with mouse and the MK2 will change colors to the group settings, I just can't use controller to switch groups. I guess what im saying is i think there is a firmware issue with the controller itself. I haven't found a way to reset firmware or update device internally. Has anyone else encountered an issue like this??

Your post is a bit unclear. Did you performed a firmware update before the issue appears or not?

If you didn't, then it can not be firmware related.

It is a hardware malfunction most probably, or dust in best case, or button-damage due to overuse through the years, or even end-of-life for the unit (it's a 13 year old device).

Did you tried it on different USB port so we can exclude connection and power issues?

If so, then you do not have much choices I'm afraid…

Here is what you can do:

If the unresponsive buttons are specific ones and the software/connection checks fail, it may be due to dirt, dust, or sticky residue under the buttons.

• External Cleaning: Use a can of compressed air to try and blow out any dust or debris around the non-working buttons.
• Internal Cleaning (Advanced): For experienced users, some people have successfully fixed unresponsive buttons by carefully disassembling the unit and cleaning the carbon contacts on the rubber pads and the corresponding spots on the circuit board with isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber cloth.
  • ⚠️ Warning: This will likely void your warranty and should only be attempted if you are comfortable with electronics repair, as improper disassembly can cause more damage. Look for specific teardown/cleaning videos for the MASCHINE MK2 if you consider this step.

As a final step, if none of the above work (or even better, before you try them!), it's best to contact Native Instruments Support. They may have specific fixes or they can offer repair/replacement options if the unit has a physical hardware defect. However, since MK2 is a legacy, discontinued device, i wouldn't expect much… In worst case, buy a cheap second hand device and use it as spare parts.
