Just a reminder to those interested. The MX2 Q&A will be on Discord today 28th of October at 4pm CET. It will only be Live, on Discord, no chance to watch it back.
They do promise a small recap:
I think it's a shame they're choosing to "hide it away" on Discord rather than host on their own site.
They've already split the community up by having a Discord channel, and there have been some posts made there that we just don't see here (unless somebody cross posts it).
😥
I agree with you to some extent.
However I think that there is a clear intention.
To me then NI clearly intend to move 'socializing' and 'community engagement' onto the Discord platform and then leave the forum only for tech questions and troubleshooting and for the hosting of what the Discord format is not fit for..
.
@PK The DJ ,
On the Subject of what you wrote then there is a MX2 Giveaway for people to participate in :

Kaiwan_NI — 2:00 PM :Traktor: Traktor MX2 Giveaway :Traktor:
@ DJ @ Traktor We all have that one friend … who somehow knows about every rave before you do who spends all day on Bandcamp digging for weird gems who can spot a bad transition from a mile away who talks about DJing 24/7, but still hasn’t touched a controller
Let’s get them behind the decks. Invite your friend to this server and they could win a Traktor MX2.
How to enter 1️⃣ Send them this invite link: https://discord.gg/KZ3EkpaRaK 2️⃣ Have them drop their answer in this channel: “What’s the most bizarre track you’d dare to play in a packed room — and why?”
🗓️ Submission closes: November 10, 2025 🏆 Winner announced: November 11, 2025
FAQ
Can I join even if I’m already in the server?Yep, go for it!I’m already a DJ. Can I enter?Technically yes, but MX2 is a beginner controller. Let’s leave it for someone who’s itching to spin their first mix!
I liked this Q and A more then the others we had on the forum. It was refreshing to see his live reaction and not just some generic text. Thumbs up from me.
My rough notes:
Notes from Native Discord Q and A with the dude who designed Traktor mx2 and mx4 Lots of stuff where he said "We want that" but please guys don't hype yourself up! It's always happens with ya' lot. Want one dude in NI wants does not mean they have the ressources to do all of it.
Discord is spyware. And great all the discussion there is not searchable like it is here on this forum.
Native Instruments Traktor MX2 Q&A Recap . This is what I picked up:
- MX4 will be significantly cheaper than S4Mk3. Planned release Early 2026.
- Traktor Team seriously looking into Real-Time Stems.
- Traktor Team seriously looking into supporting Streaming Services.
- Traktor in talks with Djay Pro to implement official MX2 support.
- Traktor Team seriously working on Hi Res support. Difficult because of the old Code Base; Will be integrated per Software Module, Browser/Library Management being the first Module. Refactoring Code Base and Hi Res support seem to be main goals of Software Dep now Traktor Play is released, albeit after OneLibrary implementation which is nearing official release.
- Traktor Team seriously working on better Library Management, one of the main goals for Software Dep, in conjunction with Hi Res support and Refactoring Code Base.
- Support for Third Party Stem Separation Software might be on the cards after Traktor Pro Software Library Update.
- USB B on Z1 & X1 because they are Modular, likely to be moved during Live Sets whilst changing DJ . USB-C on MX2 because it's a beginner all-in-one, unlikely to be moved around during a Live Set.
- Probably Screens on MX4, whilst the MX4 is still planned to be significantly cheaper than S4 Mk3. Michael NI eyes started to twinkle when talking on this subject 🙂 (He also designed D2)
- Z1 Mk2 and X1 Mk3 . They are seriously looking into allowing much more User Control over the different Layers and Functions, user configurable in Traktor Pro Settings. This will be for 202x though, not anytime soon (unfortunately).
- There won't be Traktor iOS version anytime soon. All resources of Software Dep currently on improving Traktor Pro for Windows and macOS.
- Support for other brand's Controllers is something they are seriously considering, but priorities are on Refactoring Code Base, improving Stability, getting rid of Software Bugs, and MX4 release after Traktor Play and OneLibrary implementation.
- *Traktor Play is on same Codebase as Traktor Pro . Play is Pro with disabled functions. Michael NI literally said so during Live Stream.*
- F1 Mk2, D2 Mk2, Z2 Mk2/Z4, Modular Deck Controller (1-Deck, 1 Jog) . Not anytime soon, but Michael NI acknowledged users always ask for it in the comments after the release of a new Traktor product. He kind of said: We might consider it in 20xx.
- No words in MX4 Dimensions; "Small enough to fit in Cabin Size Luggage"? I asked, but question was not answered, unfortunately.
- In the comments some people asked for a Modular Stems Controller, but the request unfortunately went unanswered. My dreams of Traktor StemJam live on ...
This, yes. My Troubleshooting/Answering Machine AI (Perplexity) is REALLY good on finding stuff mentioned on this Community Forum and Reddit. Discord and Facebook are however unfortunately closed environments (Although it seems AI Browser like Comet and ChatGPT Atlas might help out there soonish..) I started using Perplexity because I found it is GREAT for helping out learning how-to work with NI Products, now I use it daily for all kind of stuff. No more getting frustrated with trying to xyz but not knowing how, digging for answer in forums, getting lost on Youtube (Perplexity can access Youtube and find answers there even) Examples: https://www.perplexity.ai/search/traktor-pro-4-2-fixed-grid-mar-XmC7roGVR1C8S8hvJbfaEg#1 https://www.perplexity.ai/search/what-is-considered-to-be-the-m-5ZavL_GLTMyJrxOkB1Q6Mw#0
I get the impression it was very serious…
😀
You have been refactoring the old codebase it seems for like 5 years now. I have refactored codebases for companies for bigger software in much less time, why so long?
Why not re-write instead of re-factor, what language are you using? You should have stuck with the original code for algorithm functions and created a new GUI on top of that. That way you can keep your base tasks fast and compatible while moving forward with a new graphics engine.
Many thanks to @lord-carlos and @GreatUserName3042526 for the summary! I don't think there's anything else to add.
However, I would like to emphasize again at this point that this will hopefully remain an exception and that the Q&A will take place here again in the future. As far as I'm concerned, you can also do an additional one if you really want to see the faces or if certain details can/should be discussed in more detail. But that didn't happen at all. Almost half of the questions weren't about the MX2, but burning questions about Trakor and the development status in general. I wasn't expecting that. Much more of a device-specific video Q&A. The time of 4 p.m. CET is also a very unfortunate choice. Sorry, but then most people are still working. All in all, the same names would be there that are also encountered here every day. No new users or interested ones who would be the main target of this device.
So now it's the users' job to spread the word about what has been said, asked, and heard. This simply doesn't make sense. I will continue to advocate for stop of this Q & A sessions on Discord. Ther is no added value by splitting the community. It really doesn't make sense. And again, Discord It's a platform for gamers. The DJing section is horrible and completely confusing. No real conservation on sorted topics can be followed, it's a mess. Also support topics/questions are brought up daily, and a lot of knowledge gets lost without being collected, or (groundhog day) the same questions are asked over and over again, like here.
One thing I forgot to mention in the recap: Michael NI mentioned being inspired by Richie Hawtin's view on Stems possibly/probably replacing EQ for most mixing/song transition purposes, meaning a new design approach of Controllers to incorporate more hardware Stem Control possibilities is now more likely (hopefully with Endless Encoders with LED Rings (Midi Fighter Twister style)).
---- ---- ---- ---- ----
On the subject of Discord vs Community Forum for the Q&A, I favour the Community Forum so all users can read back what's been written/mentioned by NI Staff. I have to admit though that I did like seeing Michael NI live, and seeing he's really stocked about recent Traktor developments, both on the Hardware and the Software side. Gave me the impression Traktor is back actively developing, and Michael is really excited about it (as he should be).
Refactoring will probably never stop :) Once you done there is "new" old code :D I think they have only very few developers and rewrite the part where they also had new features.
I don't know all the details, but the newer stuff is in C++ / Qt.
People can ask questions here and they get answered.
And I'm sure NI will also put up a official summery. You can completely ignore the discord.
I don't understand what the drawback is compared to only having a Q and A here?
I found the answers we got with this QA much more direct.
Discord It's a platform for gamers.
It began like that. Many many more communities are using it now.
The DJing section is horrible and completely confusing. No real conservation on sorted topics can be followed, it's a mess.
No, it's fine. Just like any other chat. A bit of casual direct conversation. It's not meant to replace a forum. Users can create threads for specific topics on discord, but with current low'ish activity it's not really needed.
Not all of them, many have been left over or unanswered. Also it was not possible to get a second round after the first answers if there were some points to discuss further. Also no response in to the Chat. Only after all at the end. And the Video will be missed. (But I hope not).
And I'm sure NI will also put up a official summery.
Not so far… But maybe "Soon" ™️
You can completely ignore the discord.
I gladly would.
It's like steaming a dj set on twitch…
It's a chat room. To me, it looks more like a group chat (in a closed group) on a messenger app, and it's run that way too. There are many reasons why I don't want to consider this an official channel, which I've already explained. Mainly because it doesn't offer any added value for the community here. It might not be a problem for you, but it's tedious to piece together all the information from various channels: Reddit, social media, forums, Discord, etc. It might be cool for you and a few others—you seem to be at the forefront of everything, after all—but it just creates a huge amount of information and becomes unmanageable if it's not all converged in one place.
Not all of them, many have been left over or unanswered.
Yeah, but it was the same when we had the Q&A here. Only a couple of post got addressed.
Also it was not possible to get a second round after the first answers if there were some points to discuss further.
That is true.
Did they do that on the forum for the last Q&A? I'm not sure by I think the last traktor forum QnA they just answered the questions last minute and locked the thread.
Which I do (or rather did). Staying in touch with my DJ friends 10h drive away.
But twitch is a great example. Started for gaming but now the "just chatting" category often overtakes the gaming part.
you seem to be at the forefront of everything,
Not facebook. Or insta and tik tok. Or DJ TechTools forum.
No need to be everywhere.
