Tone generator request

Looking for someone to build me a simple reaktor instrument that does the following:

-Mono sinewave tone generator with midi CC-automatable frequency (20hz to 1khz)

-midi CC-automatable secondary frequency fine tuning of +/- 20Hz

Goal: to be able to smoothly glide between sine wave frequencies using midi CC

Problem: All AU test oscillators I've found are limited in how smooth their automated modulation can be by the steps available in the automation design. Being able to modulate a sinewave with secondary fine tuning knob will make a smoother modulation possible (over larger periods of time).

Midi cc only has 127 values. So you get steps (I understand you know this)

Fine tuning is great, but you still cant get smooth transitions, because e.g. going up you would need to jump back to zero with the fine control each time the coarse control sakes a step. You can control this with software at the control side, but then if you can do that, you don't need help making this ;)

Probably better would be to use some sort of smoothing algorithm. Dynamic is best IMO

It really depends on the context though. Dynamic smoothing can work well, but there is a little lag, and obviously you are still limited to one of the coarse values as the start and end value of an adjustment. linear smoothing is a compromise, if its set for fast changes, slowe rwill still give steppy output, if its set for slow, it will take too long on fast changes…

Are you able to control the frequency from midi pitch bend automation rather than a standard CC#? That would give you exponentially more steps & smoother transitions. If you need two seperate controls you could either hack higher precision with bit-shifting across CC#s or just route pitch bend in from seperate midi channels

I should say 'significantly higher' rather than exponentially, using the pitch bend automation you'll get 16384 values rather than 128, so still limited precision technically though you'll get exponentially more steps with each added bit of depth - really it depends on what you're using to automate the frequency sweep.

Assuming you want to get a total range of 0-1.02 khz? The secondary tuning as you describe it isn't going to scale according to a logarithmic pitch range so your range will be a lot less 'fine' at the lower end of the other control (just moving from 5-20 hz will increase frequency x4) - it might be better to scale that to a set ratio with the base pitch
