Kontakt 8 is wayyyy too quiet.

I’ve had Kontakt 8 for quite a while now and I’ve always noticed that it’s been quiet but I’ve always just thrown a compressor on it and boosted the volume.. I find it still clips a bit but I can manage. I really like using Noire, but I’m reaching a point where I really wish I could just use it standalone. It’s so quiet and will only reach halfway to 0db, that’s me playing as hard as I can. I’ve switched the in Kontakt settings to 0db from -6dbs and I don’t hear a difference. I know it’s not a velocity related issue either. I’m on FL Studio, I’d greatly appreciate if someone could help me. I’ve already tried a fresh reinstall.

I also can’t just add more volume gain cause it clips super easily. Id prefer to use it without a compressor if possible lol

Has to be something with your system.

Every single library I load in K8 - I am usually reaching to drastically lower the volume pretty much every time.

Have you turned up the volume in lower left corner of Kontakt 8 ?

If using as standalone , then have you checked the Windows "volume mixer" ?

The volume control on the bottom left is for previews, not for Kontakt output.

Are you saying the output meter in Kontakt at the top right is only hitting halfway, or the level meters in FL?

I suppose I never looked to check that one, I’ll have to see. I was talking about the meter levels in FL. I don’t have access to my music stuff at the moment but I’ll get back when I can.

Thanks , sorry , I think that I misunderstood what you wrote as could possibly have been a reference to low volume on the Kontakt sound previewing (which is a more common complaint).

Since it appear to be not then your query might possibly (?) benefit from some more info about actual setup and use (?)

this could be very true, I suppose I’d need to find more of how to actually set it up. I didn’t know there was anything specific I needed to do maybe lol. What do you mean by “sound previewing”? I just want to make sure I know what you’re asking.

The sound preview volume controls the level of the sounds you hear when you click on one of the sounds in the browser. The main volume at the top right controls the output of the sounds played using the keyboard.

If you're seeing the meter just above the volume control reaching around 50-60% when you hit middle C at full velocity with the Noire Pure patch loaded then it looks like Kontakt is set ok. If that's ok, check the levels in FL as that's where it's being turned down somehow.

A good test would be to run Kontakt standalone and make sure it's ok.

I was talking about the Meters in FL. But once again I haven’t looked to adjust the Kontakt output within the player itself. I’ll take a look at that once I get access.

The best way I've found to check these things is to bring them up standalone in Kontakt so I can see if the normal regular volume setting sounds right. It also allows you to set the volume level consistently on your audio interface. If you volume is lower in your DAW then it's obviously a setting in your DAW that's giving you the lower volume. Often different vendors may dial in their instrument defaults differently especially on various presets. A good example would be comparing Noire and Alicia's Keys. They're both consistent on the Kontakt volume meter, but Alicia's Keys sound a bit brighter because the piano itself is brighter by it's construction compared to the piano for Noire.
