Hey,
I was super happy when I first started using the flexible beatgrid feature, it’s such a game changer! But the honeymoon ended quickly during a live set in front of a few thousand people. I mixed a track that starts at 130 BPM and slows down to 100 BPM into another track at 100 BPM. As soon as I stopped the first track, the master tempo suddenly jumped back to 130 BPM.
I’ve tested this with different songs, and it always happens the same way. When you use a flexible beatgrid on a track with tempo transitions and then stop (cue) that deck, Traktor resets the master BPM to the initial BPM of the stopped track. That causes a massive pitch jump, up or down, which sounds terrible, especially in a big crowd.
P.S. When it happens, everyone turns to look at you with an ugly face, and that’s neither funny nor professional
Cheers,
Paul
