Hi.. I update my Traktor 4 tonight… Do you have issues when you pull down the song menu on right click to append the song in preparation list with this update?
(Re-)designation of a playlist as the preparation list is slightly buggy.
If you actively designate a list as your prep list, the status gets removed by the system after a while (for no reason at all), while it still keeps the plus sign.
Solution: Save your collection (right click on collection node and select save) or exit and restart Traktor. NI knows. Don't hold your breath as to when this gets fixed.
The same thing happens to me, I try to save songs in the assigned preparation playlist and it doesn't save.

No, I saved the collection and restarted Traktor and it's still the same.
You must select it as prep list again (right click→select as prep list).
Then check if it works.
Then save collection or restart Traktor before the prep list loses its prep list status after a few minutes.

So, the command 'Append to Preparation List' does not add the track to the selected playlist and does not add the three bars with the plust sign to the symbols in the symbols column of the track, yes?
Make sure you select a Traktor Playlist (listed within the playlists node in the library tree), not a playlist found in one of your folders, and also not a folder itself.
Edit: please make a screenshot of your library, with the preparation list completely visible.

Yes. Looks good. Playlist has the + sign, all tracks in it as well. This is how it should be working.
I use win10 and a keyboard shortcut and it works for me on TP4.3. If i change the used list, it behaves for me just as i have described above (loosing focus after a while, keeping it when saving collection).
How do you select a track to append it to the list? Do you use mouse? Do you use a mapping command for a keyboard mappings or controller mapping? And what's your OS?
To add a song, I click on add track to the preparation list. My OS is W10. I have to try it with the S4 MK3 to see if it adds it with the button.
with the s4 mk3 button it does add it, it only seems to fail with the mouse.
Before Update it works with mouse… now it doesn't work. I do a lot of prep my lists before and I know that this work for me with mouse.. I updated my system yesterday and this function do not work anymore. Downgrade to 4.2.0 is also not possible because my system freeze, when I relocate any song by clicking the relocate function. This is fixed… but why Native Instruments produce with any update new issues… very annoying… I have a Hotkey now for my keyboard - but….
Crazy stuff. NI should take advantage of the willingness of many users to stress-test beta versions before going public. I consider this an indicator of the difficulty to change anything in the legacy code of Traktor without introducing new bugs. May explain why there seems to be a pronounced hesitancy to address bugs at all, unless they are truly game breaking.
I wouldn't have encountered this new bug on my own since i map all available (and mappable) commands to my keyboard or controllers.
This also may be a good reason to bring back public beta testing again.
