New Maschine?

We are being over the head with the impending release of MPC. Please give us a reason why we should stick with maschine,because at this point it’s getting real frustrating. I really love machine. Please give us a reason to stay. Please just give us something . We don’t even have midi routing nothing I’m done. I’m done.

Feeling beaten over the head by a hardware release is very much about being online too much. I had no idea there was a new MPC and I'm a very active Maschine user, so it's clearly possible to get by without knowing.

Nobody is making you have Maschine User as an identity, either. You can just use other tools for other jobs. Max will let you route MIDI anywhere, including over networks, inter-app, and reconfigured and rerouted within the app itself. You could use it to build a completely bespoke MIDI router with MIDI controlled scenes and presets, routed in and out of any software, not limited to Maschine. You're not limited to Maschine as a tool.

As for being given a reason to stay, have you thought about Maschine just being a musical instrument as is, that you use creatively? It's not a feature set, or a release schedule. Keep using it because it's a fast, intuitive, expressive system.

I own both. Live 2 and maschine plus.

I will buy the live 3 because I know the potential with this one is going to be crazy.

My maschine plus will just sit there at this point I want to see kontakt on the mpc 😃

What do you mean we don't have midi routing? I've routed to MIDI devices from Maschine since MK1.

I would love a few more basic features to M3 and M+ as much as th next person. Really, basic updates is all I think is missing, there are a few annoying things that limit my creation: no after touch support, sampler doesn't latency compensate or detect silence worth a darn...

The new MPC looks like a feature creep mess to me, I am sure many will make insanely great stuff with them but I'd just get distracted. For that level of control I prefer a screen and a mouse with Bitwig. All I really need from the MPC Live 3 update to make it into M+ is the expanded processing, memory and a damn battery already (yes, you can teether a batt to Maschine but its annoying to do so).

the new mpc live 3 just came out , in europe for 1599 bucks. to be honest everyone who wants to buy a new standalone and has to choose…the new mpc hardware is miles ahead so without a new Maschine mk4 akai will be dominating the future. and im no akai fanboy.

smart move would be to port maschine software or standalone to akai hardware.

collab already exists…

What is meant here by "a reason" ? Maschine 3 was released recently so, what is it? A SW or HW update that fixes your exact personal gripes with Maschine? Think about how likely that is to happen when there's not even much user consensus on what should be improved… It's like winning the lotery.

It's clear NI wants to update Maschine in small increments over time instead of dropping a huge update filled with stuff, so chances are by the time it addresses what you personally want years might have passed… If theres another tool that does what you want now, I'd say go get it.

The only thing that can be instantly fixed for a portion of the userbase is hardware specs, say you're a M+ user that just wants more performance, more physical IO or that sort of stuff then a new model could fix that but no significant SW improvements would also make a lot of users rage… hard choices.

Personally, if NI ever got around to fixing the midi out issues, adding plugin delay compensation, and improving stability, I'd be set. They wouldn't even have to add another new feature. The midi/delay compensation issues have been around for literally years… that hasn't stopped me from making music but it is disappointing because those should really be priority fixes considering how long they've existed.

I had a look at it, and it does look like a compelling package. It isn't for me because it can't run Reaktor patches or M4L so M+ and Push are better, but if I was very committed to a beatmaking workflow I might like it a lot.

The big drawbacks it has over M+ appear to be the obvious: You can't connect it to a computer and run a completely identical-workflow session with the whole power of your computer and its plugin suite, then quickly and easily export and bounce in place anything you need to to go back to a mobile setting. It has only four realtime controllers. It's limited to 16 audio and 32 plugin tracks, which is three groups on M+, something I fill up with sample slicing workflows very quickly. It doesn't give you quick, premapped access to all of NKS/Komplete via a laptop, if that's your kind of creative process. M+ has a lot to recommend it, if it's the right solution for someone. Other competing solutions are available.

So, even if I thought there was some kind of hardware race I need to be keeping up with the peloton of, I wouldn't say MPC Live 3 was a huge breakaway. Acting like this is an E-MU Emulator and we all need to stay relevant in the world of Trevor Horn is pretty ridiculous.

all true. really. and i really like my m+ / jam combo but there is sure a certain amount of pain in the ass

we have seen that akai is way more active concerning improvement of features than ni. so if the future customers are likely more buying akai and ni sells less and less you can imagine what happens to the m+ updates if you see how their business model changed in the past . it seems that ni as a company has lost its former reputation for many customers so if they are more likely to chose akai.

just my 2 cents, sure it can be different. and i´d really like to see that it will be different

Honestly, all of the music tech companies producing hardware right now are doing a half-butt job. MPC 3.6 got Time Signature support that brings it on the same level as the Maschine+, which is to say that it is a global parameter for the whole project instead of on a "per sequence" or "per scene" or whatever basis. In MPC Version 2, they actually -had- the ability to use different time sigs in the same project.

You're going to be frustrated using anything but a DAW, if you're looking to simply write & finish a song. Nobody who works at these companies care about anything but the "System of Objects". It's all about marketing, selling a lifestyle to people who don't know better & won't demand better. People with standards are no longer the target demographic for anything. Why do you think tech bros were so adamant on replacing artists and musicians with AI, before doing anything actually useful with it? If everybody just makes 4/4 techno and thinks sheet music is snobbish, these companies never have to do better. Stupid people print money.

I suppose people who were buying M+ in 2021 had had the same thoughts at that moment regarding its future potential. But what we have got?

Love and use what you like.. i have a ton of frustrations with NI mainly for the only device I own now which they are fixing after 2 years and that control 61.. software still clunky but usable at times. One feature the live 3 has that all MPCs will have is 24 track audio out into your daw and much more.. great update.
