I everyone,
I’m running into a very frustrating issue with Kontakt 8 on Windows 10 and I was hoping someone here might have encountered the same.
System info:
- Windows 10 Home, version 22H2
- Intel Core i5-8400
- 40 GB RAM
- Plenty of free storage space
- Kontakt 8 was working fine until I tried updating to the latest version
The problem:
Whenever I try to install Kontakt 8 on Native Access 2, the installer launch installation then tells installation ok but Kontakt 8 never get installed. Then button at the buttom on Kontakt 8 on Native Access never get "installed", it remains on "Install".
If I try to install Kontakt 8 on standalone, (versions 8.6.1 or 8.6.0, or 8.5.1)
fails with the following error:
"The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. The error code is 2329."
All other NI plugins and libraries (Kontakt Factory, Abbey Road, etc.) install fine — this only happens with Kontakt 8.
What I have tried so far:
- Disabled antivirus (Norton), firewall, and VPN
- Emptied the Windows TEMP folder
- Ran sfc /scannow and DISM repairs
- Installed the latest Microsoft Visual C++ redistributables (x86 & x64)
- Fully updated Windows 10
- Updated graphics drivers
- Changed installation paths (avoiding root directories)
- Tried installing both online and offline
- Used the NI Uninstall RegTool to remove all Kontakt traces before reinstalling
- Tried running the installer manually (
Kontakt 8 8.6.1 Setup PC.exe
) with logging via msiexec → still fails with 2329
Extra note:
- SmartScreen also complained when I was offline (“cannot verify this installer”), but the file is from Native Access.
- The error happens every single time, no matter which installer version I try.
👉 Has anyone else run into Error 2329 specifically with Kontakt 8?
Any tips or workarounds would be super appreciated, because I feel like I’ve tried everything at this point.
Thanks in advance 🙏
