Installing error with Symphony Essential

Hello,

I'm using an external hard drive to store my Software Instruments without any issues until now. I'm trying to install new instruments, but after downloading the item, there is an error message saying that "the path is invalid."

I've been experiencing this problem just with certain instruments, in particular with the "Symphony Essentials…" series. When I use the default location in my computer's hard drive, there is no problem, but when I try to put them on my external hard drive, the error message appears.

I already followed the advice Native Access gave me: to check my computer's "Privacy and Security" settings, and I have everything in order there.

I'll greatly appreciate any advice to help me solve this situation. Thanks!

What is the format of your external hard drive? On Mac, it should be APFS: Notes on Hard Drive Formats on Mac Computers

Is it only with Symphony Essentials, any other products affected? Any example of a product that can be installed without a problem?

My external hard drive format is "ExFat", and I've been using it to store different Native Instruments, such as Studio Drummer, Session Strings 2, Session Guitarist, and Rudiments, among others.

So far, the problem emerges just when I try to install Symphony Essentials. As I mentioned earlier, I can install it directly on my laptop's hard drive, but when I try to do it on my external drive (to save space on my laptop), the error message appears.

Exfat is known to create issues for Kontakt and Native Access, for Mac users especially as it lacks journaling, permissions, and metadata support, making it prone to corruption and unreliable for anything beyond simple cross-platform file transfer. We would definitely recommend to reformat your drive to APFS.

However we are investigating an issue with certain products having installation issues on external hard drives on MacOS 15.5 and 15.6 so reformatting the drive might not fix the issue. Will update this thread, feel free to get in touch with our support here: https://bit.ly/NI_Support_All
