Installation Failed

I am trying to download most of my owned plugins and instruments. Some work however a lot say "installation failed". I followed the steps to amend this giving full access to Native Access, NTK Daemon, NI Hardware Agent and NI Host Integration Agent. There appears to be no consistencies as to which installations work and which don't.? I am running on a Mac mini M4 and am installing the downloads and libraries to an external hard drive. Does anyone have any ideas PLEASE?

Howdy! I'm having the same problem and spent most of the weekend figuring it out. I wiped my computer and updated my storage and figured I'd start fresh. That was a mistake. If you're on MacOS 15 Sequoia like me the following will apply, otherwise just ignore and good luck.

I've noticed that libraries downloaded through Native Access (NA) come in 2 types: ISO disk images (with an accompanying .aria2 file) or as the end result sample library folder/file structure. You can see this when attempting to install from NA while looking in your specified installation directory.

Folder/file types install flawlessly wherever you want them to in my experience. However ISO installers DO NOT WORK AT ALL because they are old, outdated and the installers on them do not conform to Sequoia's tighter security requirements since NI and/or the developer haven't or refuse to update them.

In order for me to install libraries that come in ISO images, I need to download directly from the NI website using this link:

https://www.native-instruments.com/en/account/downloads/

Then mount the downloaded ISO and run the associated Installer Mac pkg. You'll get a warning like this:

Click Done.

Open System Settings > Privacy & Security and scroll all the way down to the Security section. You'll see a warning message with what you just tried to install along with an "Open Anyway" button. Click the button.

Now you'll be bombarded with several warnings but after clicking allow and/or entering your password a few times you can then install ONLY if you leave the default installation path as Shared (Macintosh HD > Users > Shared) as shown below. If you try another drive it will fail.

I was able to somewhat streamline the process a little by running this command in Terminal to enable the "Anywhere" option under the "Allow applications from" setting in the Security section:

sudo spctl --master-disable

This will let you bypass MacOS Gatekeeper.

You'll have to quit and relaunch System Settings for the change to take effect but then you'll have the Anywhere option.

Now you'll be able to just launch the installer pkg and install as described above (yeah you'll still have to enter your password a few times). Only thing is that after the installation is complete you'll have to copy or move the folder from the Shared folder to wherever your destination is (might also have to remap the library's location in NA too).

When you're done, I highly recommend running:

sudo spctl --master-enable

This will reenable Gatekeeper (you'll have to quit/relaunch System Settings for it to take effect).

Then change back to the "App Store" or "App Store & Known Developers" option.
