Mikro MK3 - Logic Pro 11 - Recording MIDI & MIDI Virtual In/Out Issues

Hello Everyone,
I'm really struggling to integrate using my Maschine Mikro MK3 to record MII in Logic Pro.

I've managed to create a Maschine 2 instrument track (Multi in/outs x 16), draw in a pattern in Maschine, drag it to logic and each track triggers Maschine and I hear it.

I can then edit/draw in MIDI notes just fine.

What I cannot do is use my MK3 in MIDI mode to record MIDI into Logic Pro.

I think the issue is my MIDI Virtual In & Out settings.

I cannot get Logic to see Mascjine Virtual In & Out. I did slect these in Maschine standalone and was able to see them in Logic but they were reversed when I went to slect them in Logic (Out was on the IN and IN was on the OUT).

I tried deleting Logic Pro Controller preferences, restarting, …… every recommendation I could find.

This is so frustrating. It's the reason I set my MK3 and Maschine aside for a few years. But now I want to use it. It's such a great tool.

Appreciate any help you can offer.

hi , logic and maschine , where do I start .

Always been a pain , not sure how maschine works in other daws because I never tried , it used to be the limitation of au plugins , but logic now has a virtual midi ports for au , this was added recently in 11 , and when I see it , my first thought was , maybe maschine will now work with logic smoothly.

But it turns out maschine also needs some work to receive midi on multiple channels on different groups

On a plus side you can rec midi in logic from the controller without midi mode , it will only work if you are using one group , but tbh maschine and logic has only ever been good for one group.

I noticed the maschine virtual port would disappear if you add more than one midi channel/track in logic , so you can use more than 1 group

You can get it to re appear if you keep maschine standalone open in the background, but it doesn’t help the situation because it’s not stable, as it disappears, but with standalone open , it’s easier to get it back , that’s what I found whilst testing.

I haven’t re visited it since I tested it out , I don’t really have the time to mess with logic and maschine , atm I use maschine standalone , and I’m pretty happy with it , if they can upgrade maschine so it works with logic flawlessly, using 16 midi channels to send to a number of groups , I might start using it more , but I’m not sure it’s a priority, and it may be too complicated, because midi isn’t just about note msg , you’d have to have all the automation parameters available, maybe midi 2.0 will make it possible at some point .

fyi I think you can use multiple instances of the plugin for more tracks , ie 1 group per instance, but I’ve not tried that
