Confusion/discrepancy over what can be (re)located and what can't

I'm currently in the process of copying some of my libraries and expansions over to my other PC… and found something strange.

For some libraries and expansions, I get the "Path is invalid" error - even though it isn't.

An example: I was able to locate "Electric Keys - Phoenix" just fine, but it would give me the aforementioned error for "Electric Keys - Diamond". "Hot List"? No issue! "Global Shake" or "Velvet Bloom"? You guessed it!

Others that also don't want to be located: Hazy Days, Pure Drip, Radiant Horizon, Thrill Rays and Young Phantom.

So, why is that?

Hello guys,

In these kind of cases, I would kindly suggest about how the affected product appears in your Native Access, if it shows "Add Product", this means, that this is a third party Kontakt Library that cannot be downloaded / installed via Native Access.

Native Access is only responsible for authorising the library and locating it for use in Kontakt.

You will first need to download the library from the manufacturer

Once installed, simply follow the steps in this article to add the library to Native Access:

Sorry no answer. Same pbrlm, free Lofi Vib, path is correct, redoing it, no dice. There is that Click Here pg for fixing but, ive done that, pretty simple

As for the "Hazy Days" then I am not sure if it should work for that since that is not a Kontakt library. Ref. : Re installinga Komplete Bundle Without Re-Downloading Kontakt Libraries .

Though it ought to work for e.g. Electric Keys - Diamond…

@PoorFellow @Mert_NI I appreciate your replies.

In my case, they can all be installed regularly - there's no issue. In fact, they are all NI's own stuff, no third party.

I just choose to locate them instead (rather than downloading them a second time) for convenience reasons, as some libraries can be pretty huge and my internet (sadly) isn't the fastest. Simply copying them over from my old device to the new one and then use "Add Product Content" seemed like a smart idea…

Still, why was "Electric Keys - Phoenix" able to be located but not "Electric Keys - Diamond"? Why could I locate "Hot List" and "Jersey Ride" (both Expansions), but not "Velvet Bloom" and those other Expansions?

Something's strange… 🤨 Perhaps @Jeremy_NI has some clue?

@Monochrome Strange indeed, I'm trying to get some info on what could be at play here. Any differences between your PCs, like operating system, Windows updates?

@Jeremy_NI Thanks! Not that I'm aware of, no 😕 I mean… both devices have Windows 10 (latest available SP and updates), Native Access 2 is up-to-date as well, Content Location path is set to D:\NI Content on both. Yeah, everything should be the same.

Ok, I'm waiting for some more info on the topic. It might be an issue with different kind of installer used for certain products but I'm not an expert on these things so I'll wait for bulletproof info from the specialists!

Alright, so here's what my colleagues said.

For expansions. Not all expansions have a nicnt file, if an expansion does not have a nicnt file, it's not possible to locate it, only way is to download it from Native Access. We're working on having nicnt files for every expansion but at the moment there is no other workaround.

For Kontakt libraries, all NI libraries should be able to be located. Is this happening only with Electric Keys - Diamond or others too? In this case you would need to get in touch with support for my colleagues to look into it, you can get in touch here: https://bit.ly/NI_Support_All
