Upgrading from Komplete 3

Life has given me some new found time to further explore my musical passions… and I am now dusting off an old copy of Komplete 3 (original purchaser). My question of course is, do I still have any upgrade options? Goodness, I know this goes back to 2006… but it's worth the ask.

I'm not seeing my License number in my account, so not sure where I would find that now. Yes, I still have that original hardware that was part of the package… and all the discs…though not sure if that is of any use any longer.

Any advice, suggestions or help with my options is gratefully welcome.

Not sure how the registration process was for Komplete 3, maybe this was registered to an older NI account, with another email address?

With Komplete 3 you eligible for an update to Komplete 15 Standard. But your license must be in your NI account to use that update. Not sure how things worked with Komplete back in 2006 but most likely you will need to get you license code into your account. If it was a bundle with your hardware the license may be bound to that and its serial.

I would suggest to contact NI support they should know where the serial was usually back in the days and can maybe sort something out even without it with your hardware. It is at least worth a try.

Unluckily you said it right: they “should” know…

Lately some agents are answering things like “at the time of Maschine Mikro mk1 NI still had no serials” and therefore “You will need to purchase the software second hand as it does not come bundled with software as there is no serial.” Or then suggest to buy Maschine 3… but advertising it costs only 30 bucks (which is wrong, since that’s the price for the Software Update only, which would require the Maschine 2 software that they are denying to the user)

Probably (if we want to believe in good faith) they are unaware that the serials were simply called Device ID back in the days… And that the 30 bucks version of Maschine 3 would not suffice for the user…

Thanks all… I do still have the hardware as well, so I will check it for a SN or license number.
