M32 is soon forgotten about.

I have a Komplete M32. It is detected by various DAW systems and standalone sounds. However, after a while, some packages are quicker than others, it is still detected as being attached, but is either not selectable as an input source, or no midi data is received from it. I tend to blame the M32 because I also have an Arturia Mini which works fine.
M32 has latest firmware, and it lightly used.
Any ideas?

Maybe you are having some overlapping setting/use of something that either blocks or interfere.
Try checking all the device settings use also in DAW/apps with respect to e.g. Port and Midi and ???

Not sure what setting you mean. I am a simple fellow, plug it in, and enable, that is a deep as I get. :-)

How are you connecting this to your machine? If it’s USB - do not rule out a port issue on your machine.
No one ever thinks this is possible - until it happens. Best test is to move the M32 around to as many available ports that you can and test accordingly.

Thank you very much VP. I have never had two keyboards attached at the same time so probably then you know a lot more about what problems can occur than I do. In this case then I was referring to the choice of port in software , but I simply do not know if these can overlap (e.g. if you setup one keyboard then turn off and then setup another) and in case then if and what problems can happen and where else to check . I am sure that you will be much better at understanding this than I 🙂 But thought that I would mention it as something to check.

I would second what VP said here. If MIDI disappears after a while, it could be related to USB power, so try a different cable, a different usb socket on your computer, or even on another computer. How much time is this "after a while"?
Do you have an active antivirus/firewall?

+1 to the USB issue as a possibility.
I have a hard drive connected to USB that slips into "forgot about it land". It will stay connected for hours. Sometimes for days! And then…poof, it's gone.
I've also had one particular USB midi keyboard do that. It was an old Novation.
The hard drive issue was made "better" with a new cable AND a new hub. But the problem still happens after a few days, and is usually resolved by unplugging/replugging the USB. The Novation problem was fixed with a different USB cable and hub…and was permanently fixed by me carrying the Novation to the hallway and leaning it up against the wall. Unplugged, of course. 🤣
On the machine having these troubles, I suspect it's actually a windows issue, and not the fault of my hard drive or my poor evicted Novation SL. One of these days, I'll completely reset Windows on that machine, and I'll reinstall everything. I think the last time I reinstalled windows might have been sometime around 2008, which might as well be during the fall of the Egyptian pharoahs. But re-installing all my stuff will take me the better part of a month (maybe two!)…and there's no guarantee that it actually WILL fix the problem. So for the time being, I use a hub with buttons, and whenever I think of it, I just disconnect that hard drive and reconnect it by pressing the button for that particular USB port.
Whatevs. Right now it's more of a hassle to rebuild the computer than it is to press a button. Haha, I'm SOOO lazy!
