Auditioned sounds don't match the loaded sound (not even close!)

Ok, so I'm now to the NI ecosystem but not new to midi, plugins, daws etc.

I've searched & I'm surprised not to find any mention of this….the audition sounds sound waaaaay different to the loaded sound?! What gives?

When I audition a sound…I want the loaded sound to be exactly the same! (I'm not talking volume level differences) …but loaded sounds are muffled vs the auditioned sounds …so I then have to go & start tweaking the colour, dynamic & reverb settings to get somewhere close to the audition sounds …wasn't expecting this.

For example …today I purchased Komplete Standard 15 as I was really exited to get my hands on Noire.

So, I audition the presets….the 'In concert' Preset sounds full across the spectrum….so I load it up, press my keys…muffled (like all the top end has been rolled off).

Does this not bother anyone else?

Being new…am I missing something?

We haven't seen such reports. You can control the volume of the previews here:

You might need to adjust the volume here. For these previews, the samples recorded are done at full volume and with high velocity. Noire and other piano libraries have a big dynamic range, it will react differently to velocity, lower with lower velocity and louder with higher velocity when you hit the keys harder.

I'm shocked that anyone would think an auditioned sound matches the actual loaded preset!

I've been waiting a long while to move over to the Komplete eco-system, and frankly I'm disappointed at what I experienced so far. I mainly upgraded to Komplete 15 standard for Noire (I'm using an S88 MKII)…but it's a shocker when loading up presets (the net is literally peppered with complaints about volume levels, muffled sounds etc - https://www.google.com/search?q=noire+muffled or for example https://vi-control.net/community/threads/low-volume-in-kontakt-pianos.123237/ ).

Using the Komplete Kontrol browser, I audition a sound…it sounds full across the spectrum …load it up, muffled as hell…and low in volume. The color & dynamic have to be adjusted a lot - as do the velocity curves - …I've then got to spend a while tweaking to get the sound even playable (incidentally, the presets I've tried are woefully ladled with purposely injected noise/effects (mechanical, piano player, ambience)…sure, it's nice to have these in the sonic arsenal, but frankly these effect/samples are waaay over the top on most presets. It's as if the boffins who've created this instrument/presets enjoy squeaks hisses, rumbles, pedal sounds more than the sound of a pure sampled piano string ringing out clearly! (I think the only extraneous noise missing is a "peeearp" from the piano player…though it may well be in there)

I'm not new to VSTi s…been involved with DAWs, music production/products since the 1980s (Steinberg Pro 24 anyone?!) …but this takes the biscuit for expectation vs. reality (I know this won't make me popular round these parts!)…I was fully expecting to load up Noire, choose a preset & be immersed in sampled piano nirvana …..but based on Noire alone, I would have returned the Komplete package for a refund if I could…alas, because I've used it …. I can't, so I'm stuck with it (at least until the Summer Sounds sale stops running, then I might be able to offload it)

(BTW not just Noire…but all of the piano instruments I tried so far - auditioned preset vs loaded preset, not even close)

@HankMcSpank Well, I can't reproduce what you are describing and this has not been reported. I'm not 100% sure if it's just different expectations. Some of the piano libraries are a little low but nothing like what you seem to experience. Please give it a try with Kontakt 8, make sure to select 0Db here:

The previews are just samples, maybe something in your audio settings could improve the situation when the sound and samples are actually loaded. What soundcard are you using? What are your audio settings? Is this happening in Komplete Kontrol in standalone too? Kontakt 8 standalone? In your DAW? Where are your libraries installed, on an external hard drive? What is the format of that drive?
