Issue with Kontakt 8 Player and Audio routing
Probably more of a niche use case but I believe there's a bug in Kontakt Player 8 (And possibly in Kontakt 8 as well) where the routing of audio isn't handled correctly with the handoff between Native Instruments and Windows/Elgato Wave Link.
The observed behavior is that Kontakt Player 8 (KP8) is defaulting to outputting only to the headphone of the Wave XLR Interface even though My Wave XLR and Windows have it set up to go to the Music Channel which is then sent to a different audio output.
I have tested this with Kontakt Player 8, Komplete Kontrol and Maschine 2.0 software and this is only happening in Kontakt Player 8.
KP8 Config:
Wave Link Config:
Windows Config:
Komplete Kontrol Audio Preferences that work correctly:
Maschine 2.0 Audio Output Preferences that also work correctly:
I am using Windows 10 and an Elgato Wave XLR as my interface for my microphone. The interface also has up to 9 different audio mixing channels.
Sorry for the direct call-out @Jeremy_NI but I am hoping this is something you can weigh in on with regards to it being a bug.

Hello,
i don't understand why you are using WASAPI drivers…
Don't you have an ASIO driver?

I do but I found no difference in performance (at this time) using either the ASIO or WASAPI drivers. Also, I don't believe this to be a driver issue as it works fine in some NI apps, but not Kontakt 7 or 8

@psychephylax Are you able to reproduce the issue without using the Wavelink audio routing program? Have you contacted their support?

Hi Jeremy, I am not able to reproduce this because the way I understand this to work is that Wave Link as software, enables additional channels which then become mappable in various software/Windows. I guess something comparable would be VoiceMeeter that accomplishes something similar. To see if this issue persists, I would need to use VoiceMeeter and see if the virtual/software audio channels are now visible in Kontakt.
With regards to reaching out to Elgato, I doubt there is much they could do because Wave Link channels ARE visible/mappable in Windows (see attached screenshot) and other Native Instruments products (see earlier post for screenshot) just not Kontakt.
The reason I suspect this is an issue with Kontakt Player is that those same channels that Wave Link provides ARE visible by other Native Instruments applications. Basically it's like the Kontakt Player doesn't drill one level down to see the streams while other applications like Maschine do.
Kontakt Player 8 → Wave Link Application (default output, no selection for other available output channels)
vs
Maschine 2 → Wave Link Application → Wave Link Ch1 or Wave Link Ch2…Ch9 (Visible and selectable)
I hope that makes sense.
