Help with new/clean install of NI software with local or external disk

I’m doing a clean installation of NI software on a new computer. Can someone please help me understand the best way to install software and instruments to optimize between disk space and performance? Are default locations best for performance? I assume “Application Location” should be set to local disk. If I have a fast external disk, do I set “Content Location” to there? Does a DAW or NI software need to read from this location continuously (external might slow things down) or only when loading up a new track/instance (external would work fine and free up main HD space)… ?
2.
If I want to change the default content location on my old computer (running out of space), is this simple? Copy all contents from default location to new external drive location?
3.
I also don’t understand how to choose from multiple versions of an instrument, application, or effect on Native Access. For example:
Im unsure about the following options available for download/install:
Kontakt 5, 7
Any reason not to just choose 7? Do some older MK1 instruments need 5? Should I install both?
Kontact Factory Library 1, 2, and “Selection”
Is “Selection” a subset that I don’t need to install?
Guitar Rig 5 Pro or Guitar Rig 6 Pro
5 is 1 Gb, 6 is a little smaller, why would I want 5?
Massive or Massive X
Massive is only 340 MB and Massive X is 1.27 Gb. Any reason to install both?
TRK -01, TRK -01 Bass, TRK -01 Kick
Doesn’t TRK -01 contain both?
4. Any other tips?
(Im on a Mac, and I have KK 61 MK1 and Komplete 14 Standard.)
