Option to install only one kind of VST type (VST3, VST2, AAX or AU)

Hi, ist there an option in Native Access to choose only the kind like VST3, VST2, AAX oder AU plugins wanted? If not, this is very needed. Example iZTrash 4 x 240MB = 1GB, this means 750MB for nothing. I don't need anything else than VST3. If this option does not exist, please consider to deploy it on a next update. Thank you, my Harddisk will be happy…

Last time I checked - using IzoTope Product Portal - and never Native Access - each iZoTope installer allows me to step thru the install and specifically check off exactly what I want installed.

Example- I just installed the new Equinox reverb a few days ago and only the VST3 and AAX were offered to me. No VST2 is shipped any longer.

And I do not understand what you mean by 4x250MB =1,000 MB.

I just checked Trash for example. The actual VST2 of Trash is 158MB. And the VST3 of Trash is not even a plugin - it is just a 2096kb stub that calls the VST2 plugin anyway.

So the space argument is not really a thing. Again - not sure how this works on a Mac.

Your right, the VST2 is not installed anymore. So on my Mac there are VST3, AAX and AU. And for my example the Trash plugin needs per type 250MB. In my case this is unnecessary used diskspace of 500MB = AAX and AU which I must delete manually. I should have the choice of which kind i want to install. I recently deleted 40GB of data from my AU plugin folder. Some other providers give you the option in the global installer tool like Native Access, others let you choose during installation.

Well all I can offer is to use IzoTope Product Portal instead of Native Access.

The actual IzoTope installers will allow you to select exactly what you want.

Using Native Access will never allow any selection since all installers are silent with no options presented to the user.

Correct, this plugin comes from iZotope, was shown to me in NI. I can install this with the iZotope tool an choose custom installation options. But as a customer I should be able to choose what I want to install. Unfortunately, many well-known providers cannot offer this in their global installation tool. One that does is XLN Audio. This is how it should look, even if it is installed silently. Thanks for your help!

It would be enough to put the option directly in NA if they want to keep the installation phase not presenting any option. One selection that people wanting to have only one type installed could set up. Or even a choice for every product that appears when clicking on those “install” buttons in NA. Once again, it is not a matter if it can be done, but if they want to do it.

And yes, space is an argument. But not the only one: also wanting to keep our computers well managed and not too messy with unnecessary files around (even in the case they are very small)

The "trick" is to copy the installation file to another folder, exactly when it is fully downloaded and before the installation ends. Then, use the task manager (in Windows) and "kill" the installation process before it ends. Then, close Native Access and do a manual install. You install what you need, problem solved. After that, you simply open Native Access and you will see your app as installed.

I also need VST3 only and i have asked for the option to stop Native Access from doing those extremely annoying "silent installs". And i will insist on this!

It might be also possible to make your downloads folder "read only" so, Native Access can not delete the installation files, but i haven't test it.

Alternately, after normal installation through Native Access, go to the appropriate folders and delete whatever you do not need (for example, the .aax plugin).

As a customer - you can choose what to install. Just use Product Portal instead of Native Access for ALL your iZotope stuff.

You will have infinitely better success going this route than trying to argue about getting Native Access changed - that will never happen within any sort of acceptable timeline - or at all.

And why have other plug-in providers managed to integrate it into their software center? It's not about technology, it's about the will. Sorry bad argument to move me back to single installation, when the principle of the software center is practical for the customer. It's just an option that selects and installs the appropriate package. Actually very simple from a software developer's point of view.

We are talking two different companies. Yes - Native Instruments now owns iZotope - but they are about a million miles away from integrating anything to make it easy for you and I.

Power Tip 1 - Use Native Access - exclusively - for NI Stuff.

Power Tip 2 - Use Product Portal for all things iZotope (regardless of what you think you see in Native Access - as there are a few iZotope products scattered around in there)

Until such time that Native Access gets a complete overhaul to allow a user to customize an install - this is what you get and it is THE best way to save yourself pain and anguish.

Thank you for the explanation. It makes sense and I will do it that way. It is not a criticism but rather a wish list for further development. It should also be noted that other larger and smaller plugin developers have not integrated this option. Hope that it will be included in the development plan based on user feedback.

You would be hard pressed to find any company with more individual "stuff" to manage than NI.

Sometimes I am amazed that Native Access actually works as well as it does.

Have to completely agree. I have Mac M1 with limited storage , I only need AU but I get VST2 and others installed, taking up space. If I manually delete a VST product then shows as uninstalled in native Access and then cannot download updates etc. It would make life SO much easier to just install what is needed
