Traktor Automatically Switching to WASAPI After USB Disconnect + Cleaning Up Audio Device List

Hi everyone,

I'm using Traktor with either the S4 MK3 or the Z2 mixer, and both are set up with ASIO drivers on Windows.

I'm running into an issue: whenever there's a USB disconnect (for example, I accidentally unplug the cable or there's a brief power outage), Traktor automatically switches to a WASAPI driver once the device reconnects. This results in no audio output, and I have to manually go into the Audio Setup and reselect the correct ASIO driver.

In the past, Traktor would automatically switch back to the correct ASIO driver upon reconnection, and audio would resume instantly without any manual input. Has anyone experienced this? Is there a way to force Traktor to stick with the ASIO driver or to auto-reconnect properly?

My second related question: is there a way to clean up the list of audio devices in the Audio Setup dropdown? Over time, I’ve accumulated a long list of drivers—including old or uninstalled devices and ones I never use for DJing. Ideally, I’d like the dropdown to only show the useful ones: ASIO drivers for my S4 and Z2, and the internal Realtek sound card.

Any ideas or suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

We have a big active thread about this here:

But it has become somewhat of a toxic thread, not the finest side of the community.

You can remove some drivers from your OS. But all the native instruments ones will be installed again with the next update :)))

If you can't find a way to remove a driver, I think there is also a way to disable the device the device in Windows and it should™️not show up any more. At least that is what someone said in the other thread.

    "somewhat of a toxic thread"

😂 yeah not exactly uplifting and encouraging, but not going to stop me from dreaming :P It's a valid subject because just like someone else said, it's not about the one time taking a few moments but it's having to do it all the time repeatedly.

I'm set up in a way where I do want to switch between devices and don't always want to use which ever it asks to switch to upon launch. And at least for me the order is always randomized so I have to go through the whole list each time.

Here's a bunch of user friendly implementation suggestions for NI:

-list the ASIO drivers of NI devices first

    -list the last used first

    -list the most used first

-let the user mark favorites which a dot or a star or whatever

-let the user add/delete items from the list (like available FX, you can disable and enable those too)

-select a default device for when the current one is unplugged

    Thanks for reading, devteam :)
