Is there a way to break the sync of Maschine VST plug-in inside DAW?
Hi all,
I've been digging through the documentation and forum posts but haven’t found a definitive answer regarding decoupling the sync between the Maschine VST and my DAW. I’m hoping someone here can confirm if this is possible—or if I’m just not searching correctly.
What I'm Looking To Do:
- Independent Playback:
Play sections in Maschine at a different point than the DAW timeline (e.g., triggering a drop independently). - In-Plugin Sequencing:
Work on build-ups, transitions, within Maschine without having to hit play/stop in the DAW. I'm working w/ Maschine MK3 controller, so want to be able to just use Restart button inside the daw, w/o it triggering DAW playback. - Variable BPM:
Experiment with different tempos (half speed, double speed) inside Maschine, independently from the DAW’s BPM. - Automated Playback Control:
Automate playback actions within Maschine without being locked to the host timeline.
Current Workarounds:
At the moment, my solution is running Maschine in stand-alone mode and then bouncing sections once they're ready, which is far from ideal given the benefits of using the VST version inside my DAW. I’ve also tried setting up loop points on the timeline and muting other elements, but that’s a clunky solution.
If anyone has managed to break the sync or found a workaround—perhaps through advanced routing (i.e. should i run Maschine external to DAW, and use physical/virtual routing and MIDI triggers and have Audio come in via an Audio or HW Instrument) or settings I’ve overlooked—I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Thanks in advance for your help!

No. The Maschine-plugin is always in Sync with the host.
Some plugins do have this functionality, it's up to their devs, the DAW has no control over it.

i think it would not be possible

you are likely aware Maschine 3.x standalone has a independant BPM/tempo mechanism to allow for what you are looking to achieve, by way of triggering the scenes in maschine
as far as maschineVST3 & independant syncing goes… that is handled by the DAW you utilise, and if the DAW provides that flexibility
i have personally built up a template in Reaper DAW which allows me to operate multiple projects to operate either independantly or in sync with the maschine VST3's on separate projects… the challenge is when to trigger the sync, this often times comes down to manual timing
the above Reaper template i use… could effectively be done in alternative DAW's by running dual DAW applications…
however Reapers integration of multiple projects being used in a single application instance… allows more flexibility than the average DAW

Thank you for the answers folks! Was hoping there was something I missed. Sure would be great to have a sync/un-sync, but isn't the end of the world. While it feels like a restriction, it actually forces me to just commit / bounce to WAV if I want to do that. While in back of my mind, I want to maintain the ability to make adjustments, I feel like it would slow the productivity down.
