It it though? I don't know what a Taurus should sound like, but the same author created a 'Juno 60', and while it does sound fine, it's not close to a Juno… Juno has a single osc per voice, his are all doubled and detuned - nothing like a Juno (and the arpeggiator is… interesting).

This 'Taurus' might sound OK, and be usable, but I wouldn't trust it to be true to the actual hardware in any way, apart from having similar control scheme.

For better or for worse, this is a feature of the UL. Most (not all) 'models' with a GUI and name to suggest they are a clone of some vintage synth are not close to being true to the original.

Just had a look, and yep, this Taurus (which claims to be modelled after one) is not a 'M00g Taurus'.

Original has two sawtooth oscillators. This 'model' has two pairs of detuned sawtooth oscillators (the second in each pair being a 'bi-saw' which is not anti-aliased! so a strange choice).

The original had key-tracking for the filter, this doesn't. Massive difference for a bass synth, keytracking on a resonant filter means fat juicy burbly sounds that are otherwise impossible.

The original used AD envelopes, not ADSR…

There are probably lots of other differences, most importantly the distortion/saturation character of the original.

I wish folk wouldn't claim to have modelled a synth when they just haven't. It makes Reaktor look bad to folk who know what a Taurus sounds like, and makes M00g look bad to folk who think it will sound like this… :(
