my A49 is stuck in MIDI Mode. How do I fix this?

Ever since I set up this A49 Keyboard I haven't been able to get it out of "MIDI Mode" and the only buttons that work are the arrows underneath the OLED screen allowing me to change between 1 of 4 "Template (1-4)" modes. When I'm using the NI plugins it does not control the parameters of my selected instrument and none of the buttons that control the DAW (I'm using Ableton) are lighting up or doing anything. I've tried pushing Shift+PLUG-IN/MIDI and it does nothing. I've made the necessary adjustments in the Ableton settings under Link, Tempo and MIDI. I'm not sure what else to do. One thing I think might be messing this whole thing up is that in the NI software, it is still showing a serial number for an A49 I owned before I moved. I have a completely new setup now, including a different computer but I am using the same NI account I had before. I've entered in the new serial number but I can't see how to get rid of the old one and have the new serial as my primary device. I also didn't get access to my free instruments or even a trial with this new A49, maybe I'm not eligible to have that again, I renewed my 360 subscription and would love to get this keyboard working the way it's supposed to. Please help.

Other than mentioning the A49 and that your DAW as being Ableton then while you also mention "the NI software" in passing then we know noting about your setup.

Generally speaking though then as far as I know then your keyboard should be in Midi mode unless that you using the Komplete Kontrol app.

Have you installed the latest version of Native Access for your OS and then used that to install the Komplete Kontrol app ? , that ought also install the Native Instruments hardware service (remember to run KK as standalone before using in a DAW)

As for the use in the DAW then did you then try following this help page ? : How to Set Up a Kontrol Keyboard with Your DAW

You do not tell where it is that the serial number shows , but you probably mean on the MY PRODUCTS, SERIALS, AND DOWNLOADS page (?) , but in case you have a serial showing the you want removed , e.g. because the old keyboard broke then you can ask N.I. Account Support to help. Else then if you have an old keyboard that you want to sell then you transfer the serial to buyer.

I also didn't get access to my free instruments or even a trial with this new A49, maybe I'm not eligible to have that again

What software you had before ought still show in Native Access , and I am not sure when you bought the keyboard and what your purchase was/is eligible for , but at the moment then A-series buyers appear to be eligible to receive the Komplete 15 Select after registration of the hardware serial (you are supposed to input that into Native Access) and also present buyers get a(nother) key for Ableton Live Lite , and because Komplete 15 Select now comes in three different flavors then it is not added directly to your account but you get an email with a voucher which should allow you to buy the Komplete 15 Select for nothing other than using the voucher. Anyway , if you did not get the software that you were eligible for and you did not miss any voucher for the software in your emails (including email spam folder) then you have to contact N.I. Purchase Support

Thanks for the reply even though I didn't leave you much info about the setup. Somehow I overlooked installing Komplete Kontrol on this computer. Everything appears to be working fine now. I appreciate it.
