Anyone done any as yet? I am starting to do them, H-Comp from Waves being first, happy to share. Likely not the pro-level I see on here but I am trying!
I have seen a few but in most cases NKS is better for plugins because the control is higher res, you can create more detailed mappings and save and browse presets from the keyboard
In case tat you are interested in the NKS :

Forgive my ignorance but…what? How does one load NKS into the S49? Can you direct me to a support page or the like? Thanks!!!
Through Komplete Kontrol - I assume you have a MkIII?
Probably should read the manual
As written by Kymeia then NKS is used by using Komplete Kontrol with what has NKS ability assigned to it and with N.I. S-Series MK3 keyboards then you can also browse sounds directly on the keyboard using the Direct Connection. And if you have a N.I. S-Series MK3 keyboard then you can also use Direct Connection with Kontakt 7 and newer.
This is NKS ,
What is NKS? NKS 2 explained
Hi, I am working on various templates for my compatible hardware devices which is all going reasonably well, but stumbled on a plugin where the automap in KK is useless. I opened the non-NKS plugin in KK, clicked the padlock icon and edited the parameters for each page to the ones I wanted. I then clicked the padlock. loaded and different plugin and then returned to the one I had just edited and the pages had reverted to the useless default. Is it possible to edit and save the plugin specific mappings? I have looked for an answer, but the focus seems to be on external gear and building templates for them rather than editing custom templates for non-NKS plugins within KK.
Any advice appreciated.

Yes you have to save the template you edited (file menu/save)
There is no 'automap' as such - what you see by default is the layout setup by the developer, but not all developers plan well for using their plugins with controllers
NKS is the main feature of these keyboards, kind of the reason you buy one. NKS is how you see your plugins and browse them on the screen of the keyboard, you can see each preset and hear a preview of it, load it then have the controls all nicely laid out and ready to tweak the plugin. MIDI is more generic allowing you to create a template and have it control a plugin however in may cases to use the template you have to MIDI map the plugin as the mappings for the plugin are not stored in the MIDI template where NKS stores the plugin preset sound AND the host automation mappings in a single file. HOw to make a template involves loading the plugin the using the control editor in KK to learn the controls, label them then save the template. To make a "browsable library" where you can browse/load presets from the keyboard requires each preset to be loaded then saved as NKS file, then you have to generate sound previews using a DAW or some method to make a small 3 second audio sample… There is a bit involved to making a full featured library and no "simple or common" way to make them but there are many that have been made, there is the User Library area of the forum or I offer a huge collection of full libraries Here.
