Akoustik Piano on old drive, move to new computer
Answers

this is what I received last night from the Support folks. The Player thing—I didn’t have that before, so why would I need it now, when I installed from the original disks?
Also, last night I tried to open it up again. This time though, it opened, but a message window appeared that said it had to be registered, and would not let me clear it in order to use the program, as I had done the previous night…
Anyway, still done with it. Just wanted to add this latest info. Again, many thanks. 😊

All I can add is that Native Access (v1) should be avoided at all costs. That version is officially on the retirement block and serves little purpose now.
I can also say that I am on a very modern custom PC with Windows 10 22 H2 and I have Akoustik Piano registered to my NI acct - well over a decade ago - and I am able to still authorize it via Native Access v3.17.0.
That said - very important to know that I cannot actually INSTALL Akoustic Piano via Native Access.
It must be installed manually with instructions found here:
How to Set Up the AKOUSTIK PIANO / ELEKTRIK PIANO Library – Native Instruments
Once the AP library files are downloaded and extracted to my specific hard disk where I store my libraries - I simply go into Native Access - activate the Legacy Products (Preferences→Legacy Products→Show Discontinued Products) and then return to my Library View in Native Access.
I find the (now visible) Akoustic Piano - which will have a Locate button available:
Click Locate and point it to the location where I unpacked the Akoustik Piano files and presto - I am tinkling the old ivories.
I can confirm this works 100% but I still am a bit confused on what computer your are running, which OS and so on.
These instructions might not apply to you if you are using an unsupported OS or something else that might be holding you back.

ah…I think I can actually wrap my feeble brain around that.😊 I have a renewed hope, to try again now, with these very instructions. 😆
I have a WIN7 64 bit computer, with 16GB memory, and a large drive.
Again, so much thanks to you VP! 😊

Also note - Windows 7 has been unsupported for 5 years now as well.
This will impact you eventually as well.

I have a WIN7 64 bit computer, with 16GB memory, and a large drive.
That might be part of your problem , generally then Windows 7 is no longer supported.
If you want Native Access for Win 7 then you can get it from this page : Native Access Legacy Installers for Older Operating Systems (or this link)
AKOUSTIK PIANO (download link)
How to Set Up the AKOUSTIK PIANO / ELEKTRIK PIANO Library
in case of download problems then try logging in into Google first, if that doesn't help then copy the download to own Google drive before the download.
The above ought to help you circumvent the download limit.
Also, last night I tried to open it up again. This time though, it opened, but a message window appeared that said it had to be registered, and would not let me clear it in order to use the program, as I had done the previous night…
Registration is done using Native Access where you either have to register the serial in Native Access or log into the account that it is registered to in Native Access. If you need help registering then contact N.I. Native Access and Installation Support .
The Player thing—I didn’t have that before, so why would I need it now, when I installed from the original disks?
As far as I know then 'the Player thing' has always been needed since AKOUSTIK PIANO is a Kontakt library the 'Player thing' is Kontakt . Possibly then 'the Player thing' / Kontakt were part of the installation when you previously installed so that you didn't think of it as a product in itself.
You can also ask N.I. Native Access and Installation Support for help if we do not do good enough.
In case that you need guidance contacting support : Please read : how to get support !

PoorFellow…and a big thanks to you for pitching in as well…
As far as the “player”, no, when I first bought the program, all I did was load the 4 disks as the usual custom back then, Activated/Registered, and I was up and running it. I didn’t have to load or install anything else. Maybe something built into the original disks?

I guess it’s my older age, but it’s hard to let go of older things and move on. My wife chides me all the time, but I’ve always had good success at fixing things around the house, be it electronics, cars, machines, etc., and until recent years, computers.😆 The fact that it WAS working fine gets me. (but, to be honest, I started getting a little noise intermittently—usually a barely audible scratch/click about every five to ten seconds. Nothing seemed to resolve it, so that’s when I thought, “hmmm I’ll simply move the drive with AP on it to a more modern computer and I should be good.” LOL…

Nothing wrong with improvements - or trying to get the most out of your hardware etc. But there comes a time - whether you like it or not - that upgrades must be considered.
Windows 7 is a non-starter here in 2025 and has been out of support for years now. You need to be on Windows 10 22H2 and/or Windows 11 now to be fully supported and to ensure greatest success with the latest products.
Related to this is the fact that your specific version of Komplete has also been retired for a decade or more and the tools to activate it have followed suit.
This is not to say you cannot continue to use these old products - but staying on Windows 7 is huge security hole.
If you want to stay with that old version of Komplete - your only option is work directly with NI Support - there is nothing anyone on this forum can do in regard to getting that working - beyond the solutions already offered.
If this was my thing and I still really wanted to make music - I would upgrade everything starting with the computer and get everything up to current spec.

VP…yep, well said. I was just thinking this morning that I need to ditch this computer as well, and get a more “modern” one again. (Just a few weeks ago I had to buy a refurbished WIN10 unit so I would have good luck running new drum software.😉) I have amassed quite a few computer units over time, and even found one that still has Vista! I had bought a fairly new laptop about a year ago and for some reason a lot of the keys stopped working. (An outboard wireless keyboard fixed that, but then developed another issue so I just put it over into “another day” project pile🥴)
