Legacy Native Access immediately tries to update and fails update ... so nothing works

Rebuilding an older system i still use .. windows 8.1. There is only one option for installing my many purchased products: use Native Access. There is only one option for legacy windows Native Access. Ok .. I install it (repeatedly) .. run it. Immediately it says

IT MUST BE UPDATED. It checks for an update, fails. And that's the end. Closes.

What to do? Can't even find customer support any more "we don't support older products"

Which Native Access did you try to install? Version 1?

Probably is the same page where you already found it, but if that’s not the case, try the one from this support article (1.14.1):

    https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000407909-Native-Access-Legacy-Installers-for-Older-Operating-Systems

Be fast: things are about to get even worst, with the imminent deprecation of NA1.

If you want to be sure to have the ability to install the products you bought time ago, you must hurry

Unfortunately, that link is where I downloaded the current Native access for legagy. So .. that's the one that immediately goes into the failed update loop

That’s strange… automatic updates have been added only lately to newer NA2 versions. I don’t recall NA1 auto updating…

I found a very old native access installer .. 1.6.0 .. and even it immediately began the YOU MUST UPDATE .. sorry there is no update for your computer Loop. Crazy. This is after spending a few hours reinstalling the originally purchased Kontakt 5 because all of my other purchased updates were "updates" .. and then!

To authorize that old Kontakt 5, the program claimed there was no internet (there is, and was) and that I should do an offline authorization. Tried THAT, and the website tells me that's not possible. I have spent so much money with company and NOTHING works. Did they get bought by microsoft?

The problem is that you're trying to use outdated software on an outdated computer…

Products rarely get supported for ever and a day - especially software and electronics products.

Kontakt 5 is thirteen years old. Windows 8.1 is eleven years old, and went EOS two years ago.

And other EVIL thing they did, which I didn't realize until this process —- they somehow updated my original Kontakt installation to 5.8.1 … then over the years I saved many nki files .. and THEN .. the 5.6 version, the last version which can be installed without the Native Access mess now refuses to open any of those files: Your version is too old. Amazing stuff.

Well, PK, when you have worked for 50 years making stuff, sometimes things get outdated. Much of it doesn't work with indated software on in indated computer.

That's what happens when you decide to not update anything, not check on anything and for reasons I still do not understand - simply not stay current.

    The world passes you by.

Yes I've got old stuff too. Still got boxes of floppies from the 80s with DOS software and old Akai S900 samples. Still got copies of Steinberg Pro 24 and files that I saved from those days. Still got software and hardware here from the 80s.

I don't try to run any of it though. Both my current PCs run Windows 11 with Kontakt 7/8 and Komplete 14.

I maybe have good news for you: an user lately succeeded in having NI respect the EULA of that time (which said that NI must provide an offline activation code for those products since they blocked their online activation).

Check this thread, specially the last posts where OP describes what must be done to have NI support providing the activation and then what must be done to make it work:

Strange that the same guy participating in that thread didn’t suggest you to check it.

Not my responsibility to direct traffic around here.

If the OP has an activation issue for an OS that has been dead for years - it's on him/her to contact NI Support - directly.

Oh ok. So…your responsibility is? Telling people how wrong they are… even when knowing a solution is maybe available?

    No argument from me.

    @Matthew_NI

Is anyone ever going to doing anything about complete antagonist behavior in this place?

    If this:

is not a direct poke in the chest to me - I seriously do not know what is.

Just wondering what the limits are around this place - because it seems like there are none.
