Maschine+ can’t save to new 512GB SD Card
Hello, I was hoping if I could get some help. Bought mint used maschine+ and a SD card (SanDisk 512GB Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I Memory Card - C10, U3, V30, 4K UHD) becasue I heard the original causes crashes and other issues. I put the new one in, booted it up, I didn’t get the welcome screen but I was able to format the SD (it was detected). Played around and when I tried to save a project, nothing happened. When I hit “save copy” it said “Storage Issue” “SD card could not be written to.”
I tried reformatting and nothing. I put in the old SD card it came with and it was able to save.
What’s going on here? It could read my new SD card but can’t save a project on them? Does anyone have a solution? Much appreciated.

Have you tried removing the partition on the card using a drive management tool and then see if you can reformat it on the Maschine+ again and hopefully get a better result ?
Else I don't have any Maschine myself so all other that participate in the discussion here knows a lot more about Maschine than I do, But I can share the link to the manual just in case that there is something that you overlooked : Working with Storage Devices :

The next day I realized I could just look at the original micro SD card to see what it should look like, and noticed all the folders that weren't present on the new SD when I checked it after having the issue. I wanted to test it again. I put the new one back in to download an expansion and make something real quick. When I saved the track as a new name it appeared! When I hit "save copy" it worked. I was able to load it and everything. Did multiple tests and it seems like it works now? 🤷♂️

some cards have a lock , little tab on the side , could it be that
does it work with a computer ?0 -
I thought the same at first, but can it be formatted when locked?

Yes it’s unlocked, it works. I just checked on my mac and it reads the SD card as "Maschine+" but when I opened it, it was empty. Is this normal? I downloaded some expansions while messing with it, I figured I would've seen that in there.

Well… When the SD is in the computer are you able to write files to it?
Did you buy the SD from a reputable source? It seems people are now selling fakes SD's around the webs. :S
Also, it's full size SD not one of those Micro ones, right?

it has to be a micro SD inside an adapter?

no. It’s better if it’s a full size SD
I had troubles before with micro SD + adapter0 -
ok. The stock one is a micro with adapter, right? I’ve had no issues with the stock one, got like 19gigs still available so I don’t need to switch just yet.

The “full size vs adapter” thing is about limiting possible “failure points”.
If a full size one doesn’t work, it’s surely the card. If a micro doesn’t work it could be the card OR the adapter.
I also use a micro+adapter and have no problems. But probably I’m just lucky (a very important factor when using NI stuff) 😂
But the card OP indicated he is using should be a full sized one1 -
@djadidai @LostInFoundation it's really worth a try. You might find your M+ to work just more stable and lose a couple of odd behaviours.
I didn't think to have any problems with my SanDisk Extreme Pro micro SD, until I reported an odd bug in the Maschine Browser. After a lengthy back and forth exchanging details and trying different stuff with a developer, he asked me whether I could try a different high quality full sized SD card. So, I bought a SanDisk Extreme Pro full sized SD. And the odd Browser problem was gone. Also, browsing was quite faster than before.

Thank you for the suggestion.
When I’ll see some signs M+ is here to stay, I’ll probably invest in it

yeah, the stock one is a micro with adaptor. I also didn’t have any issues with the stock one.
Here is the full thread I did, with detailed reporting about the issue, so if you order a new one, you know what to look for:
