Need Help with Maschine Software Update Issue Across Two MacBooks

Hi everyone,

My name is Stefan, and I’m hoping for some advice on a tricky situation with my Maschine setup.

Here’s the background: I’ve been using an older MacBook Pro (2015) running macOS 12 Monterey with Maschine 2, version 2.14.6. Recently, I upgraded to a new MacBook Pro (2023) with the M4 Pro chip, running macOS 15.1. I’d like to update to Maschine 3 to fully utilize it on my new MacBook, as Maschine 3 is compatible with macOS 15.1.

However, I’ve hit a few obstacles:

  1. My old MacBook can’t be upgraded past macOS 12, so I’m unable to update the Maschine software directly on it to make the transition smoother.
  2. When I open Native Access on my old MacBook, I don’t see the Maschine library listed under the installed section, which makes things even more confusing.

Is there any workaround that would let me update to Maschine 3 on my new MacBook without having to rely on the older Mac? Any advice on accessing or transferring the Maschine library and software would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions!

Best,
Stefan

    Hey Stefan,

You should be able to download Native Access to both Macs and put whichever apps you own wherever you want.

As far as the upgrade goes, when you log into your account on NI's website, you should see upgrade pricing for Maschine 3 ($29USD) or Maschine 3 & Maschine Central Bundle ($69USD).

You can keep Maschine 2 on the old Mac and put Maschine 3 on the new one. All other NI apps you own should install without incident as well. I'm running 2 Macs on Sequoia 15.1 without incident thus far.

And I'd recommend the Bundle. For the price, its hands down the best Expansion for Maschine.

    Hi @DiosGnosis ,

Thanks for your reply. I really appreciate it. I thought I need to have Maschine 2 installed on my new laptop to be able to upgrade it to version 3. Probably I misunderstood something. I tried to upgrade to version 3 by the way but I can't make a payment because I got "Wrong license" error back even if I have Mashine 2:

I'm not sure what to do. I've already contacted support service through chatbot but no response so far.

@stefanz It seems there is no Maschine 2 licence on your account, maybe you have another NI account with another email attached to it? I see that my colleagues got back to you, please continue the conversation there.
