Thread title "Ideas for Maschine 3.0" probably had something to do with it..

I think folks should try to keep things simple and concise, suggest only a few (1-3) of the most important features for your personal workflow, long wishlists are probably asking too a bit too much..

i dont understand why you all putting ideas here while NI says, maschine is an idea generator (also marketed wrong / look at the description page of maschine plus). They will probably add a few simple things down the line, and thats it. This is the maschine platform. Nothing more.

this is also the reason why many people complained about the upgrade. Expections versus vision NI.

    I just want three things:

    1: Stability

    2: Stability

    3: Stability

I'm experiencing the strangest problems with Maschine 3.0.

    a) Crashes when loading Kontakt 7 instruments. Unprovoked just loading a certaion instrument and boom, worktop background and Maschine 3 gone. Can't repeat them, they are behaving like minefield.

    b) Scaler 2 opens with half it's interface missing

    c) When I walk away from my computers to go too the powderroom (ehem), and my monitor bores out on me. When the monitor is back in business I only see half of the VST on wich the focus was prior to the restroom break.

    Nice testing guys.

    Config: i9 13900k, 4070 TI (MSI), 64 Gb of Memory, 10TB diskspace.

I know, this isnt a place for bug reporting but I thought you should know anyway. And for the lads and lasses who think Maschine is a DAW, It isn't, it a groovebox. I think of it as a MC505 that lives in a computer and does not have a ****** LCD display.

    So I don't need added anything. But I don't call this a 3.0 either.

Greets and keep up the good work, but test it a little better (T-Map anyone?)

From my prespective, this thread is all about, slowing down the negative hype this update created, with a nice caring type title

That said: Midi Fx, Recording Lock State changes in clip mode

why should I have to get another piece of software to link two pieces of software from one company? They should have done this from the start I could use machine inside of tractor as an F1 replacement or even as a set on its own I have nothing against Stapleton. I just find it odd that they don’t make their own to each other without a third-party software seems counterproductive.

"why should I have to get another piece of software"

@Scott Frost Clearly you've not researched how Ableton Link works…

You don't have to buy anything. It doesn't involve other software.

    wishlist:

Ability to SELECT MIDI EVENTS ACROSS MULTIPLE PADS VIA THE HW so one could easily copy 1/2 a bar of drums from one pattern to somewhere else in that pattern or another pattern). Could use the same approach of X/Y bounds as seen when selecting melodic midi notes inside one single pad's midi events

Ability to CROP A PATTERN so you can discard all the midi before an after some bound. So you can just jam out then select the bit that worked and discard the rest. Bonus points for making it easy to COPY PATTERN EVENTS INTO ANOTHER EXISTING PATTERN. This would make working on drum fills/adding variation after on the HW way nicer IMO. Easier to edit afterwards than having to focus on getting it right first time.

SNAP TO (BEAT/MEASURE-BASED) GRID when working within the audio editor. Asis you can copy/paste/silence/fade etc while in the sample audio editor. Have wished forever that you could paste audio to an exact part of the sample based on a beat/bar timeline. Being able to copy and paste small slices of audio that you can see directly (not abstracted away as a midi from a sliced pad) would be a boon for slicing complex breaks. Being able to start a fade at exactly 1/2 bar of time away from sample finish etc. Having precise knob control for doing this and seeing it directly on screen would be awesome

IMO all three would delivery practical workflow improvements, seem like they would not be too difficult and are functionalities already possible using the competition

This works quite well, you will need to have space for your expansions twice as it makes a copy. It does some replacement with the pads that doesn't have a sample, any massive or monark instruments will not be imported.

Underwhelming release, feels like a mid cycle update than a real update and it has been 11-12 years!

    Things NI should improve:

    • Fix GUI scaling and themes (similar to Massive X)
    • Instruments included in Maschine like Monark, Prism and Massive haven't been upgraded and polished (looks very old now, Arturia is way better on upgrading their instruments), also no new instruments included with Maschine limits the possible preset sounds future expansions may have.
    • Routing UX still seems to be weak = messy to get a working DAW template i.e. sometime easier to just use the included DAW drum rack (Ableton Live) or drum machine (Cubase 14). Currently I rather use Push 3 instead of Maschine and use Ableton Live drum rack to get access of full DAW features.
      - Would like to see improved integration with DAW drum software for Maschine like Drum machine on Cubase 14 as an alternative way to use the Maschine hardware without the Maschine plugin. With Battery reaching end of life, and Leap only covering a part of the use case, this makes even more sense.
      - Work with DAW makers for quicker, better and easier Maschine plugin routing integration when you really want to use the Maschine plugin inside the DAW.
    • Release NI/Maschine sample expansion kits in more formats, currently you can only import single sounds to third party software. Kits for Ableton drumrack and Cubase drum machine would be nice to get started faster than auditioning single sounds all the time inside your DAW.
    • Options to package kits with custom cover graphics for better sound design library UX in Maschine + option to export in multiple kit formats (for Ableton Live, Cubase etc).
    • More export options from Maschine (mp3 etc)
    • Improved MIDI editing, curve automation probability and modulation options.
    • EQ curve and compressor graphics - you have two displays!

Sticking with my Push 3. Will not get the upgrade until I see improvements. Vote with your wallet and wait or move to another eco system.

    My most hopeful additions:

    1. Aftertouch (it's 2024, come on already!)
    2. M+ compatibility with M3
    3. M+ kernel update
    4. Please make the loop on/off in sampler a global control on multi-samples

    Long Shots:

    1. more assignable modulation control per sound
    2. better sounding filter in the sampler (monark…?)
    3. DAW-like amp control over audio content, where you can visualize the volume swells, crossovers, and fadeouts. You can get this with samplers ADSR or print basic fades, but it would be rad to get more power over this.

Long shots 1 & 3 are basically what I have to export to a DAW to do; Maschine could be my final DAW if I had these. Number 2 would be so rad; I love that Monark filter, and NI was able to make it efficient enough for loads of voices in Massive X.

Sure but undo retraces steps by order, while mute allows for experimentation in any order, bringing down a bunch of velocites to zero just to try it out then lose the original values is not only super slow but also destructive.

The point being that it's impossible to please everyone but this was asked for by a lot of people. In order to not be super disappointed I am looking at this update like another 2.X rather than a new major version with massive amounts of new stuff… I keep my sanity this way.

Obviously recording Mute's is far more important but also a much more complicated thing to implement than simple MIDI Mute. I can't talk for NI, but my impression is they want to get simpler things out of the way first before they go about working on huge features such as Mute recording, Automation stuff, HiRes support, etc… They are perfectly aware people want those things.

I like Maschine as an instrument. It must be intuitive and CONSISTENT. When you can move your hands around and know exactly where you are, without having to re-check for status looking at the SW or the HW.

    1. Instead of PAGE scrolling on Instruments, imagine use buttons 1-8 to JUMP. To i.e. SAMPLER MOD page, Filter, etc. Like on Ableton Push, Digitakt, etc.

("Navigate" was a good idea but requires SHIFT =( …even though VARIATION is a much less practical feature)

    2. Fix logic consistencies: If VOLUME button is activated (for controlling volume with 4-D encoder) when you visit ARRANGER (or BROWSER or SAMPLING) and then return pressing ARRANGER again, VOLUME button is still on. Which is 100% logic. However, if you go to MIXER and return, it gets deactivated. (!) That's extremelly confusing on live situations. Same goes for SWING and TEMPO.

    3. Percentage % on CPU meter !!

DAW templates for the M+ that are at least equivalent to the Mk3
