Using Komplete A49 without Kontrol...?

Hi

I have recently bought an A49 keyboard because I love the feel of the keys, but I'm going to be using it primarily as a MIDI input device for Acoustica Mixcraft so I don't really need Native Access/Controller Editor/Komplete Kontrol… or do I? It seems that without that software certain things don't work - e.g. the lights on the buttons don't come on and I can't use the transport controls to start/stop Mixcraft. Is that correct? Can I have the buttons light up and/or use the transport controls without Kontrol?

Thanks

I don't think the transport controls work outside of supported DAWs, which are:

    • MASCHINE 2
    • Ableton Live 10
    • Apple GarageBand
    • Apple Logic Pro X
    • Avid Pro Tools
    • Bitwig Studio
    • PreSonus Studio One 4.5
    • Steinberg Cubase Artist 8.5/9/9.5/10

    • Steinberg Cubase Pro 8.5/9/9.5/10
    • Steinberg Nuendo 8/9/10

Frankly, I don't think the NI keyboards are the best choice when you want something which is universally usable in any of the smaller/less known DAWs.

Light Guide, transport etc is all part of the Komplete Kontrol interface.

Certainly not required to use the A49 as a basic controller but certainly more fun with it - especially if your DAW support it.

The A series keyboards can be used (for limited functions) in Mixcraft by using the Mackie-compatible settings. But I bought it mainly because I thought it had the best semi-weighted keys.

"The A series keyboards can be used (for limited functions) in Mixcraft by using the Mackie-compatible settings."

Does that include the transport functions?
