Replacing an Audio10 - what are my alternatives for 4ch Dj setup - Future proofing my setup.

So it has dawned on me that I've been in the NI environment quite happily since the release of Audio 10 back with Traktor 1. My setup composed of a DJM 800 + Audio 10 Interface + 2 x X1 Control (1st gen), which has worked great for me all these years where my only real concern has been every now and then upgrading the Traktor software, given it happily supports my current hardware setup.

After all these years mixing exclusively using Traktor software, I've been craving the beat matching and manual feel of djing, so I've invested in a pair of Technics 1200 MK7. This also fits perfectly my setup and I can still mix with 4 digital channels and toggle to phono on the mixer channel when I want to flip to a the vinyl decks.

This has worked perfectly for me and working extremely well and reliably. Nonetheless I've come to the realization it's been over 10 years since I got my A10 (which is extremely well kept and still works fine) and because NI no longer sells them, I've been wondering what would be the modern version/ substitute for my A10 if it ever dies and fixing is not an option (knock on wood). I thought the Kontrol 6 was a possibility, but I don't think it is by the diagrams the page shows. Maybe if I upgrade to two modern (2024) X1 - do they have built-in audio cards? - , I can get rid of the A10 card, but then what would happen if I wanted to use timecode vinyl's?Any how… I would really like to stay within the NI eco-system, but eventually I will run into hardware failure and I would like to be prepared or at least knowledgeable about my options and potential associated costs. Given NI could completely stop supporting the A10 via software & hardware in case of failure.Thank you for your input & feedback.

    Nope. They are just controllers.

For 6 channels / 3 decks there is the Reloop flux.

I'm not aware of any 8+ channels audio interface with phono in. But there has been similar threads to yours in the last few weeks. Maybe they have some decent recommendation:

    Hello,

so as far as io understood your setup description, you don´t need phono preamps in the audio interface!? Then a focusrite 18i8, tascam US-16x8, behringer umc 1820 and so on, would fit and do the job. The x1 mk3 has no build in audio interface, you would still need one, at least with two stereo pairs output.

If you don't use DVS with your Mk7s any audio interface with 8 or more output channels will do. If you also want to use control vinyl your best bet is to replace the DJM-800 with a mixer with integrated audio interface like DJM-750 Mk2, DJM-900nxs2, DJM-A9, Allen&Heath Xone:PX5, Xone:96 or something similar.

Another alternative could be to buy one or two used Traktor Audio 10 to put them on shelf as backup. But that solution offers only a limited future proofing.

Hum…. this is a little heart breaking… but I guess I could upgrade my mixer, I would only upgrade my mixer to a Xone:96, apparently it would work with my setup but it is an expensive solution.

Guess it might also be time to start thinking of dropping NI all together and just adopt Rekordbox and go with a pair of XDJ-1000 MK2 + Xone:96 + pair of technics 1200 MK7.

Sad to see such a great product being discontinued.

Thank you all for the input and assistance.

I can recommend the Xone:96 use it with Traktor (Scratch) Pro almost 6 years now. Great mixer.

If you really consider switching to rekordbox you should consider a Pioneer DJ mixer. Especially if you want to integrate XDJs.

the Xone K2 has a built in interface and is a 4 channel controller. Get 2 of those and a PX5 and you’re set for anotherr 10 years.
