Can I download and install directly on external SSD?

Hi there,

can I download and install content or a VST from Native Access directly on an external SSD?

Or do I first have to download and install it on my Mac and when this is done, I can move the installed VST or content from the Mac to the SSD?

you can set this in native access, on mac you can srt the download, install and content locations.

Best is you have now nothing installed, you buy a external SSD. Then you install native access, set the folders and install everything. You can move and relocate some libraries like kontakt libaries, afterwards but best and easiest option is to do it like i described. Let's say you have already stuff installed now change the folders and install, the settings are only valid for new installations.

But will it work later if I download and install it directly on my external ssd? Because I don't have enough space on my Mac.

Yes, it's actually advised to put all library content on a separate drive.

I already do this for my own consolidation needs, but I'm curious why it is advised?

Because the library can grow pretty big in size over time, it's recommended to put everything on a separate drive with enough available space.

Maybe I should've used the word "recommended" instead of "advised" 😅
