Traktor S4 MK3 jogwheel issues / Sound moving back when scratching ( July 2024 issue)
Hi everyone, I have an issue with my Traktor S4 MK3.
I m using it only for scratching on my production.
Everytime, I'm playing with the jogwheels to scratch (For this reasons, I m using it only in TT mode, if not there's no interest in using a S4 for scratching ), I have my sound which is making a little movement back on it initial position on the jogwheel.
That's truly a nightmare when you are scratching sentences during one minute, cause the cue point start at 12 o'clock, and finish at 9 o'clock for example.
I was with controller editor 2.8.2, I downgrade it to 2.6.2 cause I read old post having the same issue but it was in 2022, and it seems for others it solve the issue, but it's not my case.
And I don't find anywhere another actual solution.
I try with Traktor 3.9 and Traktor 4, exactly the same issue.
My S4 MK3 firmware is up to date and running with the last file available on driver section "TKS4MK3_FWUpdater_130_Mac" (no update from native since 2019)
If anyone still have the same issue, or find an actual solution to this issue, I will be really gratefull, cause I start to be really disappointed…
Thanks in advance for your futur answer.
Stay safe
Regards
Snaily.

I remember this issue for myself, and downgrading the controller editor to prevent back queue slipping to far. So LED's aside in the jog wheel, on MacOS, it's slipping back again? I'm going to try this now.

Yes, It's truly a nightmare… I m on Mac0S Sorona 14.5, I try to downgrade controller editor too, but it doesn't fixed the issue. I really start to give up about fixing it, and that's means my S4 MK3 will not be useful for me.
I m contacting the support to know how to desactivate my license and could send it back to the reseller.
Cause, I have it since 1 week, and I m truly disappointed about it cause I do not need a mixing controller, I really need a scratching and beat juggling controller.
I was hoping the S4 was the good compromise to start experience with a full controller and not spend too much money (regarding Rane1 or Pioneer). But finally… I think I will return to my old school turntables.
Thanks a lot for your answer.

And for what it's worth, I just tested every way as far as Traktor settings go. Scratching / Normal, or keys on or off. It worked fine here.
It does surprise me that so many people don't clean install MacOS. I do this after every major upgrade is released and would never perform a major upgrade without wiping the hard drive clean first.
You can always create a 2nd account (User profile) on MacOS and test there.

if you are not able to totally wipe the hard drive clean and reinstall MacOS, you need to uninstall everything NI, and this involves your library files at a deeper level on MacOS. It could help. Free open source app, look for this logo online,

Thanks mate, I will check it.
Although I m using CleanMyMac X for my cleaning, I have nothing on desktop, I take care to have always more that 35% of hard drive as free space, I'm deleting oftenly my cache files…
But, I will not lie, I never reinstall fully my OS, could be a great test, although it will need a little effort to do it.
By the way, the S4 is the only hardware which bring me issues. I m using Maschine hardware with maschine 2 with Komplete and Ableton live 12. In ableton too, I using at same time Akai APC64, Akai key 25 and Maschine hardware, and a NI audio 2 or 10 as external soundcard, I have never any issues with it.
I m using too my maschine hardware as midi controller for Resolume Avenue, same, never any issue with it.
So, for this reason, I m not really convinced that is my way of taking care of mac the guilty…

You should never be using what you are using to clean your Mac and there are at least 40 - 50 reasons why not to. So uninstall that for a start and check the internet first. Don't take my word for it.

And just saying, your best test would be creating a new user on MacOS and watch it work perfectly. Then if so, you can think about wiping it clean knowing you are in the right direction. And never install what you have mentioned above. You dont need a 3rd party app to make your Mac run better. You never did. It's linux under the hood, it takes care of itself. It would be better for you to learn what needs to be deleted and the open source app I mentioned does exactly that. That way you can keep a record of library files suggested to be deleted and learn their paths.

Thanks mate.
I will reinstall all my OS to be honest, although for ableton and others works fine, but could be a good clean, sometimes it's good to do it.
By the way the S4 and traktor have been return to the webshop and ask for a refund. It's not made for my use…
