'This simple feature is named Automatic Backup. It can be found on the General page of the Preferences and enables MASCHINE to autosave your project in the event of a crash. If the feature is enabled, and in the event of a crash, when you reopen MASCHINE it will ask you if you want to reload the last project. The user has no control over what is saved by this feature, and only the project open when MASCHINE crashed is available to reload.A link to the General Preferences page in the manual (were the features is covered) is available online here'@toneyrome

I'm on this page because last night I experienced such a crash. Automatic Backups in Maschine do not, apparently, work. The project file was corrupted. This has happened before a couple years ago and I had to rebuild the project from scratch. (Crash reason ... I was using a laptop with dead battery and turned off the power supply during shutdown, and Maschine, despite being closed, was not done writing to the save file)
Manually backing up project files works ONLY if you happen to know that the project file being copied to the backup folder is a functioning copy. (otherwise without incremental renaming one can write over one's only "good" copy.)
I find it ludicrous that Maschine doesn't save incremental backup files to be loaded if the main project is corrupted. Let's see ... off the top of my head, ProTools, Reason, Reaper ... it's not unheard of!
