How does Traktor Pro 3 recognise STEMS music?

I am using Apple Music app to organise my CD-ripped and purchased download song collection which will then be imported to Traktor Pro Track Collection using Apple Music APIs.

I have downloaded the free STEMS for Traktor Pro 2 from NI web site, and it seems that Apple Music is able to import the STEMS music file and retain all 5 tracks even though it can only play the non-STEMS track.

My question is when importing into Traktor Pro Track Collection, does Traktor Pro 3 check the music file is ending with ".stem.mp4" extension, or the MP4 container information stored in the file, or both to recognise the music file as STEMS music? The reason I ask is because if I let Apple Music "Keep Media Music folder organized", it will rename the file with ".mp4" extension dropping the ".stem" extension name.

I just tried copying a STEM file onto my desktop, renamed it from .stem.mp4 to .mp4 and added it to the collection and it still showed as a STEM track. The best way to check for sure would be to try it in Apple Music and see what happens just in case Apple mess with any tags or other header details that Traktor is expecting.

    Hi @mykejb ,

Could you try this for me please?! It would be really helpfull

    1. Extract a song stems with any tool you want (but not traktor!)
    2. Create a folder with the master files + the stems inside (to respect the architecture expected from traktor)
    3. Check if the stem.file works in traktor 4

    Why would it be helpfull?

Because I'm a producer (FL Studio) and I can export my music (master file) and the stems (separated audio tracks) from a music I made. And I would like to play it with stems.

I know the Stem Creator software exists and has been made for it but it doesn't work as good as it should (I created a topic here about it:

It would be really helpfull if you could try this!

    Thanks in advance
