What do I need to download to my laptop vs external hard drive?

I just got a Kontrol S49 and was to download all of the apps/plugins/libraries that came with it but my laptop (2019 250GB Macbook Pro) does not have enough storage to handle all of it. What should I be installing on my laptop and what should I be installing on my external hard drive. Thanks in advance!!

The ideal layout within Native Access→Prefs→File Management:

Install all your actual applications and plugin files (VST3, AU etc) on your C (system) drive.

Set Downloads to where ever you have the most space.

Finally - set the Content Location to your external.

Best to do ALL of this right at the beginning of your NI journey - it can get a bit dicey to start changing this stuff around later.
