Hi Community

my last desperate try to keep my Traktor Kontrol S4 MK3 running without Bluescreen:

My Setup: Windows 11

ASUS Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-1035G1 CPU @ 1.00GHz 1.19 GHz

All Drivers are up to date but in a running Set the PC gets frozen and restarts with a bluescreen. The windows Eventmanager shows the ERROR, that NIHardwareService:

MIDIDevice: Unable to unlock BMIDI DLL/driver

After this Event is the next one, that the system has restarted.

The Native Support mentioned to uninstall Native Access but that did not help……

now, i have a 999€ Hardware but i'm not able to use it.

any clues?

Thank you

If you are getting an actual "blue screen" in Windows - that is 100% hardware/driver related.

This is interesting, I had the same MIDIDevice: Unable to unlock BMIDI DLL/driver error at a gig last night. Traktor locked up twice at the exact same place in a regularly played track. I had to kill Traktor in Task Manager and I couldn't restart it. I had to reboot the host machine and start over. I'm not able to recreate the issue

I can feel an NI patch looming ;)

the Bluescreen is a maximum of 5 seconds visible and the PC will reboot. I Know that this is a driver issue. My Problem is WHAT DRIVER?

my Windows 11 is up to date, from the NI Site i have all driver installed. i also had a PC-Dump collected and all the Data given to NI Support. The only Answer was "Please re-install" (HAHA… i reinstalled my complete WIN11 and started with a clear system).

If you use Traktor without the s4, just buy clicking the UI, do you still get a bluescreen?

If you have a second computer, you could also try the s4 out there.

Just so we can figure out if it's the s4 itself or maybe the computer.

    No Traktor —> No Bluescreen

i tried it several times with the internal soundcard and it works for hours fine. No, i have no other Computer to test. I tried also to put the PC in Flight Mode (without Internet) and deactivate McAfee Antivirus. No Effect.

The Bluescreen will only effect when the S4 is connected

I can't be sure, but it sounds like there might be something defect / wrong with your s4.

Use whocrashed to check wich device / driver is faulty:

The same thing happened to me with a Traktor S2 MK3.
I connect it when I press play, it starts to be heard and it starts to disconnect and connect continuously, until the blue screen of death comes out.
