using MaschineMickro3 and then record the midi in Ableton 12?
Im unable to get MaschineMickro3 to be recorded in Ableton 12, ie tap the lovely pads and create a rhythm but record this in Ableton to edit within Ableton.
Surely this is possible?
If I tap out something on my Maudio keyboard, I can record the chosen Maschine sound, in ableton
hmmmm
Im a bit confused..
Ive followed steps to install the control surface script for Maschine and this seems present in Ableton
Ive gone through the steps listed on NI website for chosing the host…
but its making no difference what so ever…
Im drawimg a compete blank..
could someone please advise…
is it me or…why are these things so hard to figure?

There's no need for scripts (and you chose the wrong one, you have a Maschine Mikro MK3 not a Maschine MK3).
You should check this video: Recording MIDI Notes in your DAW from Maschine [VIDEO]

Hello,
if you use the script with ableton and it works you should be able to record midi onto a selected and armed track. Even without the script with maschine in midi mode it should work. Can you make a picture of the midi settings and what midi preset do you use on maschine, also the one belonging to the ableton script? Also those scripts normally have a manual maybe have a look there, where you got the script.

Uwe is right! Also, when you're setting up your midi outs from the Machine channels, make sure "Thru" isn't on and at the group level, right click over the group and select "MIDI to Notes". All you should have to do from there is make sure your Ableton channels are receiving the midi information.
I tend to just drag and drop the midi directly onto Ableton from the Maschine VST. It's faster, allows you to compose more within Maschine itself and will separate all midi patterns onto their own channels automatically.

Yes, your right….!
I didnt realise.
thank you.
I have now removed the control surface script from the ableton folder and deleted it.
It looks like I dont need a script at all..am I correct?
as there doesnt seem to be one anyway(?)
I have managed to now record midi in ableton…however, I had just managed to do this this morning before your reply…
The problem for me was putting maschine micro in midi mode and altering the octave to be C3…
which I didnt think I had to do, I read I didnt need to somewhere..
But I did need to do it…
now each pad, corresponds to a sound correctly…
so basicly that was the only problem.
no script was needed..
just plug and go….
it SEEEEEMS ok…..i say hopefully
can I just ask…
In midi mode, it seems that only the pads are operational, ie, they play the sounds and I can record in midi…
what about all the other button in maschine mickro, they seem to do nothing, while all being lit up…
its just the pads….am i correct…
any pointers appreciated..,.
THANK youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

I just typed a reply and its dissapeared!
thank you for the above…
ive removed the scripts and carry on without them
it is now working…
however, can you advice my novice brain…
now that im in midi mode, recording midi in ableton without any script being neccessary…
all the buttons on maschine micro are lit up, but its only the pads that play anything or do anything..
is this correct and normal?..
or have I missed something?
THANK YOU
Chris

Hey Chris, yes it's normal, in MIDI mode only the pads are active, all the other functions are part of the Maschine software.
