Maschine Software
Hello,
I am trying to download the Maschine 2 Software but cannot, because I need to have downloaded Maschine 1 first. I've been looking everywhere for that software and it is nowhere to be found. I've checked NI website a million times, and other locations, and still cannot locate it. I need help finding the Maschine 1 software. If someone could guide me in the right direction, that would truly appreciate it.
Thank you.

The "Base product" will be a licence for the Maschine 1 software. That's included with all the earlier versions of the Maschine hardware. If you bought the Maschine 2 upgrade version you won't be able to use it without getting hold of a Maschine controller with an included licence. I'd contact support and ask them if they'll do a refund for the upgrade. As you've not activated the software they might be able to do that.
When you buy Maschine hardware you'll get a licence for Maschine included, even if it's second hand. Check out eBay and Reverb, and be sure to get a "transfer ID" from the seller so you can register the hardware and get the software. The licence you have will depend on the hardware and also if you purchased the upgrade.
If you have a licence for Maschine 2 you should be able to download it directly using Native Access. If you don't have a licence for Maschine 2 but you have a Maschine 1 licence check out the thread here.

This is my first time ever using Maschine. I do not have any hardware yet, but I just wanted to use the software before buying any hardware. I have the serial number for Maschine 2 software but it is the upgrade version. I tried to register but I keep getting this Failed Message saying "REGISTRATION ERROR: You are missing the base product for which this upgrade/crossgrade/update is valid."
What is the base product?? Do they mean hardware??
I do not have a license for it at all. Does the license come with the hardware? If not, how would I go about getting it?
I know its alot but I appreciate you trying to help me. The website isn't really helpful.

You have been a HUGE help. I did not think it would be this much work just to use this software. I guess I have no choice but to look for the hardware. I dont think there is a way to reach customer service at all. I'll try second hand purchase. I guess everything happens for a reason. I was planning to by second hand eventually, but I had no idea about the Transfer ID number that needs to be with the product.
Thank you again.
You're awesome. 😊

You can buy the Maschine 2 Essentials (same software, stripped down library) software independently, but it'll cost you about £59, or whatever that is in your currency -
For that price though you'll probably pick up second hand Maschine hardware and get the full version. If you don't get the transfer ID you can usually contact support, give them purchase details and a photo of the hardware with the serial number and they'll get you sorted out.
The other option is the cheapest audio interface for about £69 which comes with Komplete Select. That includes a bunch of other software as well as Maschine 2 Essentials. Again, if you buy secondhand you'll still get the software package.

I'll start looking for a second hand Maschine hardware then.
So just to make sure I'm understanding correctly. If I am able to get the hardware second hand, and get the transfer ID, then I would need NOT need to purchase Maschine Essentials because the full version software comes with the transfer ID.
Is that right?

You'll get the same software you would get if you bought the product new. Depending on the hardware you get either the full version of Maschine or Maschine Essentials. For example, the Maschine MK3 will have the full version of Maschine, the Mikro comes with Maschine Essentials.

When you say that the software comes with the hardware, is it an actual disc with the serial number on it?
I read somewhere that the hardware should come with the software disc and the serial number to activate the software if purchasing second hand. Is this always the case when purchasing second hand?
Would I need to ask the seller for the software and serial number, or would all that come with the Transfer ID?

Software is all downloaded now. You get the "Transfer ID" from the seller, which they get from their Native Instruments account. You enter that ID into your account and it'll register the software to you, and at that point you can download it.

Sounds good. I just found someone that has a Maschine Mirko mk3 they are selling for $200. I'll make sure to get the transfer ID.
I'll keep you in the loop. Thank you again.
Oh, I was able to get in contact with a customer service rep. FYI, download sales are final and are not refundable.
But they gave me a refund anyway in good gesture. I would have never thought to ask for a refund if it wasn't for your help. I really appreciate it.

FYI, used Mikro MK3 for 200$ isn’t the best offer you can find. I bought mine for 100 (which was indeed very cheap…but something in the middle would be more appropriate than 200 imo. It costs 249 new, so 200 used isn’t a really good price).
And be aware also that Mikro will give you Maschine Essential, not the full one (but, as mykejb said, the difference between the 2 is not in the software (both include full Maschine software), but in the library (aka the number of sounds, groups,… limited in Essential, complete in full version)0 -
Good point on the price. I'll see if they could drop it.
While having Maschine Essentials installed, I should be able to upgrade to Maschine 2, right? Then I should have the complete software with complete library. Will that work that way?

Yep, you can upgrade from Essentials to the full library here - https://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/maschine/maschine-accessories/upgrade-your-library/

There is a huge difference in the software compatibility between 1 and 2. So if you are using a new computer, it would be interesting to have a newer version of Madhcinw software. I've recently changed my old Macbook Pro 2015 for a Macbook Pro M3 Pro and Maschine 1 Software is not compatible with the MacOS in it.

Hi
I am thinking of getting a Mikro Mk2 Black from Guitar Center for 50 bucks. I am a complete noob with this kind of MIDI stuff, so please be kind. This thread seems to answer some of my questions. But I am still confused about some things.
First unanswered question is what is the functional difference between white and black (if any) please?
Correct me if I am wrong, but the software package is all installed on the computer, right? Nothing actually gets installed on the Mikro itself?
I can download MASCHINE 2 software and MASCHINE Factory Selection for 69 bucks. Someone in the thread said that they had to buy Maschine 1 to be able to upgrade to Maschine 2. Presumably that would NOT apply to me as the 69 bucks includes what I assume is a full version of Maschine 2. Can you confirm this please? I really didn't understand that part of the thread. I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed, for sure.
I assume it is a fair bet that Guitar Center is not going to be able to provide a Transfer ID, and the device may or may not have the serial number sticker on the bottom. Naturally, I do not have a license or anything else.
That 50 dollar price seems to be a great deal, but I'm now wondering if buying from Guitar Center or Reverb might just leave me with an unusable hunk of plastic. I DON'T really think that would be the issue though, as someone said that they were able to contact Support and provide proof of purchase from GC plus the serial number, and they were in the music making business. Naturally, GC only provides 1 picture, but as long as I can confirm the serial number label is intact I will be ok (and I might just be a tad too paranoid to think someone would have removed it just to be a ******).
Thanks for reading this far
Phil
