How do you setup your orchestra?

Is it not actually just the hard drive that's going to be the issue here? Slowing things down? Lots of big samples there to load, so the speed of the hard drive might be really slowing you down. I recently had to get myself an even faster SSD drive to run my preferred orchestral options - a mix of Komplete Ultimate, Vienna Instruments and Spitfire BBC SO. And I have to say that the improvement is really noticeable.

Faster storage helps, but your motherboard isn't going to have the bandwidth to quickly load an orchestra. I've saved my template with the samples purged.

True, depending on how much you're pushing it. I've done orchestral pieces with, say, 12 high quality instruments running and it loads quickly and plays with no problems. I've gone for the combination approach there - 'ensemble' sounds for background instruments with separate sounds for solo/lead instruments that will be more prominent or obvious in the mix. Haven't yet tried to write a 70-piece orchestration 😂. I suspect that would break the PC!

Yeah, I 'd have to say that's my approach. Once I've done more pieces and gotten my feet wet, it'll probably change, but I have no idea whether it will or not.
