Two Maschine together?

Hi everyone,

I have 2 Maschine devices in the house and 1 computer. I was hoping I can use one as audio interface to receive audio input from audio out from the other one. I connected the cables but when I launch the Maschine 2 software, I can't see to be able to control both in the same time...am I missing anything?

Also, if this is not possible, does anyone have any idea how to still use both machines on one computer..? Or I should really send one of the to Reverb.com ..?

Thank you very much!

Its possible to use 2 Maschines but under certain circumstances and setups...

    1) they must be DIFFERENT Maschines (Example, a Maschine Mk3, and Maschine Micro, or Plus, or Mk2 etc...)

2.) Each different Maschine Must be used with different Software (Example one MK3 used in "Maschine Software" and the Micro as A Plug-in in a DAW)

3.) Another Option is using one in MIDI/Controller mode and the other in Normal Maschine Mode.

Step 1 is essential or it wont work.

Maschine Jam may be for sure used with other Maschine brothers. But I think one may mix different types Maschine controllers and use them in Maschine SW. But I am not 100% sure, I would have to try it.

But, audio interface is another question. Maschine SW may connect only one audio driver. On Mac one could use agregate device, on Win one would have to use something like ASIO4All audio "wrapper" to glue more interfaces in virtual one. I am not sure if it would work with two Maschines....

The only 2 models that can control the same instance are Jam + any other 4x4 Model; and of course any KKS-Mk1 or KKS-Mk2.

Are you sure?? If each controller is using a software instance (a plugin instance) they can be the same controller model I think.

If you're on Mac you can just duplicate the standalone Maschine app in case you don't want to use the plugin version, on Windows duplicating the .exe doesn't work, at least not without further tricks.

I personally havent been able to use the same model maschine at the same time. But I have sucessfully been able to use diff maschine variants on the same computer, Specifically Masch Plus(in controller mode) and Masch MK1

Interesting, It might be because the same model would have the same MIDI Port / Product ID thus the SW can't tell them apart. Thanks, this is useful info.

If one of the two devices is in midi mode it should work for sure.

What I’m guessing from Vic Angelo suggestion is: using one with standalone Maschine software version and the other with plugin Maschine software version (in a DAW) is working for you? No midi mode involved?

In any case, they won’t be controlling the same instance, as D-One correctly said (not even his workaround of duplicating the app on Mac will make it happen). Which I think is what OP was after.

Another inexplicable decision from NI. Make it work (like users ask from years)…make it possible to use 8 Maschines with one instance and I will buy you 8 Maschines…(that’s why I say it’s inexplicable: they are limiting their possibility to sell users multiple controllers…)
