You can use it, but none of the MPE suff is gonna work because Maschine does not support it, it doesent even support regular after-touch.

I am pretty sure you can use any controller as long as it is a MIDI controller.

No because it doesn't support aftertouch or polyphonic expression generally

OK. Does this mean that Maschine is not MPE compatible?

Yes it does, it just supports basic MIDI and even then leaves out aftertouch which means it’s not even fully compatible with NIs own keyboards (at least the ones that can do aftertouch)

    Suppose:

I load Kontakt in Maschine. I want to configure and control Kontakt with Seaboard Rise 2 (mpe keyboard).

Is my understanding correct that this is not possible?

I saw a tutorial where Kontakt was loaded in a MPE compatible DAW (Logic) and configured to a Seaboard Rise 2.

Yes you can do that in Logic as it is a host that supports MPE, Maschine doesn't, you would be able to play the notes but that's it - Maschine supports none of the additional MPE features

Thank you all for the feedback on this topic. I have now some more knowledge. Maschine has its limitations. Maybe an upgrade (like Push 3) may ad MPE functionality. 🙂

The strangest thing is, Maschine MK3 controller supports polyaftertouch already.. So it's just a software limitation

Yeah the pads output it but it’s just used for beat repeat- it’s as if the Maschine developers never considered someone might want to use a keyboard with it so decided it wasn’t a problem to hijack a key expression feature for such a limited function

With the new mk 3 komplete S series keyboard the problem is solved. Controlling Maschine not possible anymore. Fortunately I own a MK 2 S keyboard. I will not upgrade to MK 3 keyboard. Looking sideways I discovered the Seaboard Rise 2 keyboard. Excelent ...... ! as I own Ableton Live 11 Suite with MPE functionality. I will probably skip the Push 3 options for the Seaboard. Kontakt as a VST in Ableton enabled as MPE. 😃
