Is the (Windows 11) problem with the different volume of m4a-iTunes files only with Traktor 3 Pro or the same with Traktor Scratch Pro 2?

Hi all, confirming that the issue has been fixed with a Windows 11 update by Microsoft.

Please make sure to install the update March 26, 2024—KB5035942 (OS Builds 22621.3374 and 22631.3374) or higher to solve the issue.

This is caused by Windows*, not by Traktor 3. Other audio software (such as Rekordbox), reports the same problem.

So, considering the fact that Traktor Pro 2 is very old, i assume that it will be the same, if no worst, problem.

The solution in this case (even if it sounds as a paradox), is rather to revert back in Windows 10, or, to take the more logical step, to wait for a Windows update to fix this problem.

    Note:

    • Since the Windows 11 update 22H2, Microsoft have changed the codec AAC of the system. This change, results into a volume problem when it is decoding M4A and AAC files, that are used in some streaming services like Soundcloud, iTunes or Bandcamp. Lots of DJs and music software are impacted by this change, and the issue has been reported to Microsoft.
    • The only fix currently available is re-encoding your files. Microsoft screwed the AAC path in an effort to improve performance when using Bluetooth devices from Apple mainly, as they lean very heavily on AAC.

We posted a new knowledge base article about this issue here :

    https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/articles/14956152152349-Traktor-Pro-3-Issues-with-M4A-Files-from-iTunes-on-Windows-11

    Important notes :

    • If you have installed the 23H2 update we advise you to uninstall it while you are still in the time frame to do so. Windows confirmed the issue in this Microsoft Community post and is testing a fix with affected users. Once the issue is solved, the solution will be available with one of the upcoming Windows 11 updates. Unfortunately, we cannot give an exact timeframe. But we will keep you posted!
    • Do not install the recent 2024-02 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 11 Version 23H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5034848). The issue is not fixed yet and will be solved with another future Windows update!
