List of MacOs Sonoma glitchy NI plugins/libraries

Hi there

I'm using a recent M1 pro Mac and because of a stupid Apple issue I was forced to update from Monterey to MacOs Sonoma. So far almost everything seems to run fine, even with devs that don't recommend updating to Sonoma, but I have some issues with somes plugins (Plugin Alliance and NI ones mainly).

Among the Native Instruments plugins that have issues, I noticed that it's very difficult to pinpoint clearly a culprit, especially that for exemple some Kontakt libraries are ok but others are not. I was thinking it could interest NI users on this forum to share some plugins, Kontakt libraries or Reaktor devices that make problem on Sonoma (or more widely on ARM Macs).

If it happens some of you don't have the same issues on similar set up (machine, OS, DAW...), it means I've got other problems and sharing these infos could help me or other users refine their setup and find other causes for their issues...

Here are my finding so far :

Kontakt 6.7.1 seems to be ok in general (I don't have systematic issues with it)
Inside Kontakt, I've got some issues with Una Corda, generating random CPU spikes
Reaktor 6.5 seems to be ok in general (I don't have systematic issues with it)
But inside Reaktor, I've got issues with Rounds, generating CPU spikes even when not doing nothing. It's truly the most annoying issue I've got, because on recent sessions I use Rounds a lot and even on stage. It was not like that before (Monterey), and even not like that on an old mid-2012 laptop I was using (and still use)...

My setup is the following :

Macbook pro M1 pro (2021 model) / 16 inches / 2To drive / 32Gb RAM

Mac Os Sonoma 14.1

Live 11.3.10

Please share your own experience with Sonoma (or ARM Macs). If you can use the same layout (list of issues or positive experiences, then setup with machine/OS/Daw) it will make the reading better for everyone...

@Kymeia By the way, do you run the last version of Sonoma ? I'm thinking that maybe 14.2 could fix some issues (I'm on 14.1 now).

I have this issue with omnishere. If i open it through komplete kontrol it works correctly. Then if i close and reopen the plugin half of the GUI is missing and you are unable to access any controls/parameters. It is an absolute nightmare and a real pain.

Within Logic. I just updated this morning to see if apple had fixed it but its still the same. Here is a screenshot. As i mentioned, i close the KK window, reopen it from the channel strip and it looks like this. Ive found no work around but clearly its unusable like this.

Thanks, I see that’s the old KK too so this is also affecting that which suggests something has changed in Logic as it wasn’t doing that last time I used Omnisphere in Logic (which was a while back admittedly m)

Looks like it, i just got a new mac and had to run OS14, newest version of Logic and the newest KK. I had other issues with KK v3 so i installed an older version. Im hoping there is a fix for it soon as its really unusable like this.

I have been testing this some more and it seems this is not quite the same issue I am experiencing, which is where background elements get artefacts (usually lines, sometimes reflections of the plugin GUI) and bits of the KK interface disappear. In KK3.02 at least I do get the cutoff view the first time I load Omnisphere but if I switch between the browser and plugin view just once, after that it is full size again. The issue with graphics I have persists and even gets worse when switching views.

That doesnt work for me unfortunately. I thought more people would be having these issues but i dont see so much online, ive posted on the logic support pages but no replies

There definitely is an issue the first time it’s loaded but for me it’s fixable, I guess maybe there are other variables at work on your system

Years ago I had a similar issue with iZotope plugins and it turned out to be an app I had running in the background to manage windows (Moom I think it was) - sometimes bugs like this can be hard to replicate for most users and beta testers

ive got it working, switching between the browser and plugin worked. I was sure i already tried it and it had no effect. If you were here id kiss you. Im so happy now, i thought id have to live with this for a while at least
