tempo fader hardware doesn't match software

If I move my right tempo fader on the Kontrol S4 the respective tempo fader in the software Traktor Pro 3.10 (was the same with 3.9.) either

  • doesn't move at all or
  • moves delayed and not to the exact point of the hardware fader or
  • jumps randomly

With sync lock the software works fine, but there are cases where I can't use sync.

Laptop: Apple MacBook Pro M1

I thought the hardware is the problem, but it works fine with Virtual DJ for example.

Thanx a lot for any help!

In my opinion, you should use the in-DAW tempo changing if you use the DAW sometimes.

    It might help.

Have a nice day, mr DJ!

you mean, manipulating the tempo in the software with the mouse/trackpad? This doesn*t work neither when the problem occurs (which is not always the case or only after some time playing)

I recommend play around with settings a little bit and some experimentation.

    I hope it will help.

Mate this is the Traktor DJ subforum. It's not a DAW.

@SebastianE What S4 are you using? The mk3? I'm not 100% sure if that is your issue, but try to change from relative to absolute pitch slider mode in the s4 settings.

@lord-carlos It looks like that did the trick! Thanx a lot! I changed it some time ago tor relative mode, forgot why I did it, probably some tutorial I watched. What is the difference between absolute and relative mode? Can't find anything on that topic in the official manual.

@Milos no problem - thanx for answering!

I preferer relative mode, once you get to know it.

In relative mode, you can press shift + pitch slider to to move it, without it affecting the software. For example you can move it all the way to the top with shift, and you now have the whole slider to pitch it faster.

Also if the pitch is changed because of software (sync, or you load a new track) and the fader would be in the "wrong" position in absolute mode, it does not matter.

I'm pretty sure that that was the reason I changed it to "relative". Thanks a lot for the explanation!
