I can't get MIDI notes to send from Maschine VST and Mikro
I know I can switch the Mikro into MIDI mode, but I'm under the impression I can configure it as a VST and use the sounds in a DAW, triggered by my Mikro's pads.
I've watched a ton of videos but can't seem to make it work.
Made a video here but apparently I can't share the link here.
I've set the group to MIDI out and the individual sound channels to Host. The Mikro has been configured and selected as MIDI in device in Ableton. Still no MIDI notes though.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thx

GUESS WHOOOOO!!!
YOU NEED TO WATCH THIS VIDEO APPLY THIS TO YOUR SETUP- WATCH CLOSELY THE STEPS AND SETTINGS. YOUR ON ABELTON SO REMEBER THAT AND THEN APPLY STEPS FOR ABELTON
my template has "triggers mode" chk out how i did it!
I DID THIS ON FL STUDIO AND MASCHINE MK3 AND ITS WHAT YOUR TRYING TO DO BUT ITS HARD TO EXPLAIN BUT I SHOW THE STEP AND PROCESS OF IT BEING DONE HERE-
(THE VIDEO I SENT YOU ON REDDIT, CAN PUT LINK HERE BECAUSE OF NI)
(YOUTUBE-CADILLAKTRACKZ-TRIGGERSMODE-)
IM RECORDING 16 PADS, A DRUMKIT ON MASCHINE, INTO FL STUDIO VIA MIDI, PLAYING AND RECORDING ALL 16 PAD SIMULTANEOUSLY. NOBODYS HAS SET IT UP LIKE THIS BECAUSE ITS HARD TO FIRST SETUP-
DO YOU SEE WHAT IM DOING?
WHEN THE CHANNELS LIGHT UP ON FL STUDIO ITS GETTING MIDI FROM MASCHINE- NOTICE HOW IM USING MIDI MODE AND MASCHINE BOTH SAME TIME, PLAYING MY LOADED KIT FROM MASCHINE, BUT IN MIDI MODE-- THIS IS ADVANCED SETUP....IT CAN BE DONE
THIS IS WITHOUT LOOPBE-

If it doesn't work then you prob you messed up on the settings.
Upload your Ableton project and i'll have a quick look for you.

In facts…you don’t even have to use midi mode…the best set up imo is having Maschine in controller mode controlling Maschine software on one track and then setting up Maschine software routings to send the midi out to different tracks in your DAW (and of course having those tracks sending midi back to Maschine).
In this way you have the midi been recorded in the DAW and still have all the functionalities Maschine has.
YouTube is full of videos showing how to do that. The best one I ever found (and explaining it in a couple of minutes, not hours) is in French, but you can use automatic captions (although full of errors) to understand what he is saying.
The whole explanation take place from 0:30 to 3:07, therefore in less than 3 min (but with a lot of pauses to follow it step by step) you’ll see all the things to do

The easiest & quickest way to get MIDI out of Maschine is to use MIDI mode, but... as you mentioned that's not a necessity...
MIDI can be sent to the host by changing your routing scheme. Bear in mind that MIDI routing is only available on a per-sound basis, like so:
On the controller itself you'd need to press the 'Channel' button, then make sure you're in the 'Sound' tab after which you need to select the "Output" category. Go the the 3rd page.
Anyway, set the destination to 'Host', then select a channel. Once you have that set up you will probably want to switch your sound to keyboard mode otherwise there isn't all that much MIDI to sent 😉
However, now that you got MIDI going out you're also going to have to tell your DAW to capture it. After all: Maschine is a VSTi meaning so much that a DAW expects audio to come out, not necessarily MIDI.
In case of Ableton you'll want to make sure that you got the mixer section available, then use the "MIDI From" section, something like this:
As you can see I pointed the 'MIDI From" section on track 2 to the Maschine VST, I also set monitoring to 'On' so that I don't have to arm the track (which is easier on me when using Push). Oh, right: keep in mind that Live doesn't really use MIDI channels, so while I did set it to 2 it actually doesn't make all that much difference because all Live cares about is "MIDI output", no more and no less.
But yah, that's how you'd get MIDI out of the Maschine VST.
