I'm on discord but notice I really don't use it that much. I do miss Metapop, I think that was a really wonderful community of creative folks and fun challenges. I would much rather see Metapop return in some form than a discord. The great thing about the site was that it was easy to use and there were minimal distractions - you get your challenge, you post your work, and you have some interesting interactions with other users. Discord can get extremely distracting, with threads evolving at high speed creating FOMO when you don't stick to it. And I realised with many servers that I really wasn't missing out at all. Sorry for being a downer... 😂

No, you had a community Metapop and you simply closed it you will probably do the same on Discord which in itself is a mess.
Bring back Metapop less the the competitions.

As long as this forum will still be available, feel free to open what ever other platform for people who cares about it and would like to participate. I didn't vote for either.
Next time, give us the one-month notice so we can bakup the info/files in our existing threads before deleting entire forum! I lost many mappings, MANY!

Have you checked the internet archive? I often use it to recover stuff I uploaded to the old forum, see certain posts, etc... It's a bit of a pain to navigate but if you find yourself there and click your profile you should find all threads you started and download your mappings.
You might have to try a bunch of snapshots and often deal with broken links, but it's possible.

If the question is "Should we have a discord...?" then I say sure. If you are asking, "Would you take part in it?" I would say no. Have it for those who want to use it. It should not affect those of us who don't show up right?

Definitely a NO on the FB group from me. That place is toxic and I deleted my profile a long time ago. If I wanted to chat with idiots I wouldn't have done that... Know what I mean? :)

it is not a solution unfortunately. Also the archieves wiil be no longer accessible in the future.
Just give us the timely notice next time before deleting entire forum is all and thank you.
