Delay in recording

When recording chords, my recording is not on beat (delayed). Why?

Could be a couple of things (both related to quantization)

It’s possible you have Quantize on record turned on and playing slightly too late (closer to the next quantization point than to the beat) the notes get shifted

or

You have Quantize on record turned off and you play slightly too late (in this case a very little amount is enough, since the notes are not moved by quantization but recorded exactly where you played them). You can always apply Quantize after the recording in this case.

There is another possibility: if you are confident on your playing skills and you are SURE you are playing on beat, it’s possible the problem resides in the type of instrument (preset) you are using: if the sound you chose has a long (or even not so long) Attack setting, the sound produced will start with a little delay in rapport of when you push the keys (or pads). Check the ADSR settings of the instrument
