Is it possible (or do/should I need to) update the firmware on Maschine MK2? I see plenty of links for MK3 series, but not MK2...

For entering MIDI mode your Maschine software has to be closed.

@Sunborn thanks- how do I check versions. I am using windows 11 and everything seems to work. I am noticing that some of the sub-menus in tutorials are different than what I have available. I know I haven't updated in yrs (it has been on the shelf for at least 5).
On your Maschine MK2 hardware, click "shift" + "settings". It will display firmware version, driver version etc.
I am sorry, can you help me find the settings button? I looked around on the hardware and there is no "settings" button, or indicator above a button. I fired up the software and held shift down and looked at the eight assignable buttons across the top, to see if they were aligned to settings (with and without the shift button pushed) and none of them indicated settings. Looking at iimages of the MK3 - there is a clear settings button, but I cannot find it on the MKII hardware.
Ugh I did search the PDF manual for [SETTINGS] for whatever reason the version of the manual I was looking at had the few buttons i looked at in square brackets as opposed to parens. (and a search for settings without the brackets wasn't very exlcusionary). I am an idiot. thx.
and it turns out - no i didn't have the right manual. the firmware stuff is in the hardware / controller manual, which is different than the general 900 page manual.
